Well that was a terrible half but we'll take it esp as Soton were asking all the questions - the way Mane scored is the difference between Championship level and Champions League winning level.

We're missing Alisson direct passing into midfield. Without it it's taking an extra pass and giving the opposition time to get men behind the ball.

Saints had chances and in particular Yoshida and that free header from Che Adams. But if you don’t take the chances you can get punished

At least there's a week before a home game - the shakiness at the back we saw in preseason is still there, the mid-field isn't bossing it, passing is rusty, possession given away too easily an the high line is causing sphincter spasms.
Plenty to work on - get the result today and there's no need for panic - feels like they need a wake-up call and a tight result today may help to focus minds.

Always seems to be a delicate clip that has no hope of beating the keeper.
