Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can you let bygones be bygones?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Yes my life's too full for that. I dont bother pointing out to idiots that they are idiots. I just leave them and tbeir cr*p behind. I'd never respect them again though. I can be very nice to people who are nothing to me.

    Whats your typical thursday like?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Ever seen something so surprising you couldn't believe your own eyes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,309 ✭✭✭✭Purple Mountain

Yes, about ten years ago I was driving near my house one Sunday, rural roads, and there gliding quite low over a field was a hot air balloon with people looking out over the side. I stayed parallel with them only for a few seconds but then I lost them when I round a bend. Was very strange.

They look better on men than women I think.

Not yet. Love Christmas so it’s on the “to do to do” list

Do you have anything on your “to do” list for tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,309 ✭✭✭✭Purple Mountain

Yes, tomorrow is a day off work so I'm using it to finish my Christmas shopping. I'm quite excited!

Are you currently reading any book?

    Do you like documentaries?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭Upforthematch

Ah yeah some great ones out there.

    What is your proudest moment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,105 ✭✭✭Trigger Happy

It’s a good question and a hard one to answer. The one that stands out to me right now is that I wrote something once that was published in the Irish times. I was delighted with that as had always done so badly at English in school for the simple reason that I cannot spell due to mild dyslexia. And when I was growing up you were marked down in English exams if you had bad spelling. So to have my way with words recognized like that made me very proud.

If your car got a flat Tyre would you be able to change the wheel yourself or need to call help?

Book that represents me: the time travellers wife (here one minute, vanishes for work the next, haha)

I rarely read autobiographies but I recently read a biography with the personal diary written by Jane Welsh Carlisle and I really enjoyed it.

I don't really watch documentarirs/any tv but try to listen to BBC podcasts when I can.

Proudest moment, helping & believing in someone deemed hopeless and seeing them reach their potential.

    I can change a tyre.

Have you ever driven off road?

Have you ever driven off road?
Yes , by a young teenager fella in tractor with a full silage trailer. He couldn't stop so I took to a gap that fortunately was there.
Ever have a bad break up ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Only had one breakup, it was overdue, I'd half done it about 20 times and didn't want to be there. The chap did it in the end. Not bad as such.
Possibly bad for those I left over the years, but like to think I wasn't callous. I'm afraid I was though.

Any historical 'thinkers' you admire ?

People like Newton are and Schrodinger are Godlike in my eyes. How they got their minds to come up with the things they did is amazing.

If you were to be reincarnated as a non-human animal or insect, what would it be?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

    A hare or a fox.

What would you come back as?

    An eagle or albatross.
Must be awesome looking down from that height.
If you could go back in time. Who would you prefer to meet ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,648 ✭✭✭honeybear

    A hare

Which celebrity’s hairstyle do you admire?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Nobody famous. I'd meet people I know or knew and spend time with them again. There's never enough :)

The old Rachel hairstyle on Friends.

    Same question?

Were you happy with the cards 2019 dealt to you?

    You?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,224 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

Not great tbh. I won't look back on it too fondly (except 2017) tbh

Do you think nostalgia is a good or a bad thing?

As a genuine human emotion, good..as a means of selling cheap sentimentality, bad..

What would you like to have happen in 2020?

    I actually love Lemsip..

Has the internet led to a more atomized society?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Edit: elderberry syrup for a cold. E.g.. Sambuccol.

A decade of adventures, highs and lows and I don't want to live heart in mouth in future. For 2020 I'm aiming to live a good wholesome family oriented life and stay out of trouble.

Have you had enough adventure for one lifetime yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,648 ✭✭✭honeybear

No ... need more adventure as I’m a creature of habit and need a shock to the system every now and again!

How many baubles approximately are there on your Christmas tree?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

I don't have one up yet :O there'd be about 30-40. Smallish living tree.

Do you use the flashing tree light sequences?

    No that's give me a headache :)
