The clap of thunder about half an hour ago(Monasterevan) was unreal. First the sky lit up and then a rumble I've never heard before. Five minutes later another massive rumble, car alarms going off everywhere. Cool. Nothing since.

Lots of heavy rain and another flash in Dublin 6. I want thunder overhead!

7 years since the last strike within 1 km of my home..

Biblical rain in D12 for the last 30 minutes. Can see a few more people looking out attic windows after being woken up by it too.

Had to walk in torrential rain down to the bus stop to get the airport coach from Drogheda this morning, absolutely lashing. No thunderstorm here yet though. Hopefully won’t cause any airport disruption.

Seems like most of Dublin heard it....we're all talking about the same one

That flash of lightning that preceded it was something else

I’m in D14, I saw the flash directly and it blinded me, then the bomb of the thunder went off and it shook me to the point I started crying, I’m super scared now

Yes the lightning was unbelievable. The whole room lit up. I am also scared. My dog is inconsolable.

That must have woken a hell of a lot of people up across the city. You'd want to be a very heavy sleeper to sleep through that.

So Tallaght was the epicentre? The thunder boom must have been ferocious in the area

I could actually hear a faint rumble after that one in North Kildare! It must have been massive.
