Had a few drinks with Rory McCann who played The Hound in Game of Thrones. He was sound. It was early in the series and he was living on an island in the middle of a lake in Scotland. Think he was unaware of how much his life was going to change.

Georgia Salpa in some yuppy restaurant in Dublin about a decade ago. She complimented me hat at the bar. Took me a wag of the tail or two to cop on to who she was. Chatted for ten or so minutes. Sound as the proverbial pound. Really nice wan.

Met some fella from the Arctic Monkeys or one of those million and one bands that were all the same a few years back. I had no idea who he was, me friend did. He was an absolute weapon.

Met plenty of sports people when younger, mainly autograph, photo, that sort of stuff.

I was Salpa’s minder one night actually, she was bang on sound and chatted away. Very nice person.

I met Bernard O Shea, not sure if he qualified as famous, but he was an extremely unlikeable guy. There's an air of arrogance about him. I used to like him on the radio.

I was working in Stormont years ago and I shared a lift with Ian Paisley and his bodyguard.
He said a few words to me and I either smiled or nodded.
Didn't want to speak and reveal my accent. :D

Went to Germany V Argentina in 2006 WC Qtr Final, ended up in the back of an Irish bar where the BBC were having an after match party, karaoke in full swing, two guys were up singing Football's Coming Home when Skinner and Baddiel walk in, the place lifted, even as an Irishman it was magic. Skinner was sound, big Elvis fan and my mate was singing American Trilogy at the time so he was loving it, Baddiel dragged him out fairly quick. met a few others at it, Lee Dixon, Hansen, Martin O'Neill, nicest was Mark Lawrenson who made sure the Irish lads weren't kicked out when one of the BBC staff realised we had gatecrashed. Great times :)

Met Daron Malakian from System of a Down while watching Napalm Death at Download Festival. Drunk but friendly.
Met Danny Carey from Tool. Friendly but weirdly only sign autographs in purple marker.
    Martin Sheen, lovely man.
    Henry Rollins, businesslike but cool.
    Ray Houghton, very friendly chap.
Paul O' Connell , wasn't talking much to him but he made a bug fuss of my buddy's brother who has Downs Syndrome and was with us so always liked him since then.

The nature of my work means I work with famous people from time to time and some of my own friends are on tv and in movies. One of my friends is a former American pornstar too which was a bit of an eye opener when she told me that. Felt dirty googling her videos! :p

That being said there are odd occasions where I do geek out when I meet someone famous. So aside from peeps I know, I’ve met:

Tobin Bell. I had a massive hangover. He didn’t He doesn’t have to act hard to be convincing on screen as Jigsaw although he is a pleasant chap.

Laurie Metcalfe. Geeked out here. Held the door open for her as she was leaving a restaurant I was entering. It was her birthday, which I knew, and she appreciated the creepiness of a stranger wishing her a happy birthday.

Mick McCarthy. I’m not a football fan but he was at an event I was at not long after the controversial World Cup. We had a great chat about the Late Late Show and being on TV. Can genuinely say you couldn’t meet a nicer guy.

Kevin Pollak. He’s a fan of sketch comedy and a supporter of local and upcoming talent in L.A.

Bono. We had a pee beside each other in a restaurant. Wasn’t the place to be chatting politics so we kept it at pleasantries and washed our hands.

Anna Friel. Ah bless, she’s a heart melter.

Scott Adsit & John Lutz were performing at an improv festival that I was also performing at. It was a large festival and they were very popular at the after parties each night so I left them be. However one of the nights the rumour mill sent the masses to the wrong bar and Scott and John were having a quiet pint in the pub I was in. So I went over and said hello. I randomly talked about Star Wars and Adsit is a fan. But things took a turn with Lutz but that’s another story...

Robert Smith and the lads in the Cure cool lads very chilled and really nice to deal with .

Bass player with blur comes across as a bit of a twat but he was actually very nice which was a bit annoying .

Shane McGowan kept an eye on my bag as I went to buy tobacco in town once and I had to buy him a pack of blue rizzlas, really quite and a bit tipsy but a real presence about him , still owes me for the rizzla.

Why did Oasis dedicate a song to you?! That's amazing!

Myself and two friends met Liam and ended up havin a drink with him a few years ago. He spotted us at a gig not so long after and appreciated our enthusiasm so dedicated a tune to us. Well, he just called us the three stooges or something like that. Not like he knows us by name but was good all the same.

There was another funny incident with Noel when I was living in Argentina. The night before the show he was havin dinner around the corner from my girlfriend's apartment. He was signing autographs for a small group of fans on the street afterwards and we went over. He laughed about meeting a Paddy in Buenos Aires. The next day was the gig and I had the tricolour with me. He spotted me, pointed over and dedicated a tune to "the Irish". Here's the incident on Youtube. Around 1:00:12

Paul English who was Willie Nelson's drummer. Met him at a bar in Biloxi Mississippi and went back to his hotel. Where he smoked more pot than Snoop Dogg could ever hope to.

A few years ago saw Brendan Kennelly sitting on a bench in Trinity college grounds spent a good while speaking with him what a lovely man he is we spoke about families and life in general and ended up discussing Cork and Kerry Football.

Spent time with Paul Kimmage just when he had retired from cycling he was covering "The Ras" we had a great old chat talking about cycling seemed pleasant and very chatty.

Spent an hour with Katie Taylor what a beautiful person she is . She was rather shy to begin with but as time went on she really opened up . What i found hard to understand was how could such a gentle and petite lady become such a fighting force in the ring. When friends of mine came along she engaged with them as well she was so nice to them all. She stayed around until we said we had to go . She made such an impresion on them all. She was on a short break from training which made her kindness all the more remarkable.

I nodded to Chris de Burg one day in Blacrock Shopping Centre I think he nodded back

I once saw Ritchie Kavanagh at the counter in Golden Discs.

He told me and my gf (we were like 16 at the time) off for her sitting on my lap in a shopping center. Was really confusing.

A few years ago a dearly departed friend of mine was flying from Cork to a German airport to see a ZZ Top concert. While queuing to check in he turned around and , who was behind him?, only The Rev. Billy Gibbons. After a few minutes chatting , Billy told him to sell his ticket to the touts and go to the guest list door for an AAA pass. Before they got on the plane He went to shake hands with Billy but he refused because of insurance reasons. He did it "Wireless" fist to fist without touching.
