The Texas Chainsaw Masaccre, original version is the greatest horror movie ever made. End of.

    Cancel the game necro

Can't really argue with that sort of logic tbh :D

    But do other Boardsies agree?

Let's keep it going and find out. ;)

    Saw!

As far as I remember nothing really great had come out horror-wise and saw was epic when I saw it. Really clever and unexpected.

The decent. Fantastic movie, great shock opener, and a presciently empowered final act. Although if it's horror so is Predator

    4-2 to Saw so far.

Can The Descent clamber out of that dank hole and mount a comeback?

I think Saw is the better movie overall with a great twist and premise. However The Descent scared the Bejeebus out of me and the climax was great.

    Descent for me!

    Great game Necro.

Descent is better of these two.
Felt like i was suffocating watching the descent eventhough i love saw.

Ties will be decided by the vote of the organiser, if deadlocked for a considerable period (where no votes have been made in 15 minutes).

Ok sorry about the delay folks.

    Guess I'm stepping in here.

Tough one to call here but I'm gonna go for The Descent myself. Have fond memories of it scaring me half to death.

And with a not so swift judge's decision The Descent emerges from the ashes to send Jigsaw tumbling into the abyss.

    5-4 the scoreline.

    THE THING (1982)

    VS

    GET OUT

New vs Old here, in an intriguing match up.

I liked The Thing but didn’t love it. I’ve not seen Get Out though I hear it’s great. I might abstain for a time here as I’m not passionate enough about the one I’ve seen to try and make an impact.

I heard so many good things about the Descent. I thought it was a huge let-down.

Cant remember the thing at all but not sure get out is a horror as i found it so funny. Undecided.

The thing is an absolute classic. Great setting, great tention. Even the reboot was very good.

Get out while good, is overrated imo.

Easy round for me, the thing.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭Choc Chip

    The thing!

Wouldn't have placed it in my top 10, but it's a decent flick, Antarctica and dogs. What's not to love. :D

Get out I found more funny...

In an effort to expedite this process and get some form of debate going, whilst people are still pondering Match 6 I'm going to introduce two more tussles for you all now.

    My votes:

    Get Out

    The Lost Boys

    Aliens

    Oh , and Aliens .

No matter how many times you watch it , it never disappoints , just brilliant .

    Scores:

3 - 1 to The Thing so far

    3 - 0 Lost Boys

    3 - 0 Aliens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Get out is great, but the final act is a little pedestrian and I think time will remember it more for the wrongheadedness of its Oscar nod. The Thing is a genre defining classic. And that genre is gross! The Thing for me please

Lost boys. This was my teens, man - burn rubber does not mean warp speed!

Aliens. Best damned war movie ever.

Get Out is fantastic. Creates an amazing tension throughout. Doesn't rely on jump-scares. Can be watched a second time through a different lens. Jordan Peele put himself on the map with this and I absolutely had to go see his second film, Us, and I'll continue to watch whatever he makes after putting that much credit in the bank.

    He also does this

Aliens is not a horror movie :p

The Lost Boys because I love The Doors and Echo and the Bunnymen (it was also a pretty decent movie), and Audition was awful.

Aliens because it’s fantastic and I’ve never heard of the other one.

Aliens is not a horror movie :p

Yeah technically its a action movie. My favourite of the Alien series though.

Aliens is not a horror movie :p

    Yes it is.

It’s not as horror as Alien but it’s still a horror.

Another vote for lost boys and aliens.

Kiefer Sutherland is adorable as baby vamp and aliens is a classic.
