It would make sense cos at least if you know theres cases in mullingar for example you would be more vigilant if you were around that town or any other

    If there's 200 + cases it's everywhere

Didn't the HSE at the presser the other night say they'd be doing county by county stats soon

There’s so much stuff out there..... hard to believe what’s true and false. I’ve seen the same thing myself. What really is hard to figure is the people who create this content in the first place....a friend of a neighbours first cousin whose milkman knows the postman’s whose wife’s first cousin is a retired guard said

Coveny on the news urging people to come home from Spain before Thursday. Whether that means a shutdown on our side or Spains or means neither

Stop. The amount of rubbish I had to disprove for people about the army was unreal. Who ever is spreading this crap would wanna get a good beating. Pure scare mongering

    Whats a complete shutdown?
Rang our crowd on the ground out here this morning absolutely none the wiser about it the situation at home or what the go is if they shut the borders at home. Flights are booked for two weeks time so it could all blow over in that space of time yet.

    Better living everyone

I would think the country will isolate, similar to NZ since we can, NI notwithstanding. No travel in or out except goods.

Any close down will be for 15/16 weeks from all the information that can be had.

That's it. I cant see the big issue. The country will cut itself off. Everything bar vital services like shops, vets and the likes stay open. Worst case is some people will have to hang around the family more. Terrible thing that. No one will be locked into thier homes. Ya can still go for a walk, run or whatever. No one will be s prisoner

What is more frightening I suppose is the amount of crap people are believing. Always thought movies were exaggerating reactions but I'm not so sure now

You don’t think a shutdown similar to France, Spain, Italy, Poland etc is a likelihood here ?

But do you not think the HSE is going to be over whelmed, that's the worse case, they really haven't a hope as they'll be getting decimated by the virus as well

Army spread way too thin atm. Only 5000 or so of us. No way we could lock down the country. Many vital installations to be guarded first. Portlaoise prison and the likes.

Anyone know the lag time between getting tested and getting the result? I've read a couple of opposing opinions on it.

Irrespective of the army, I take your point on that.
But that doesn’t negate the same style lockdown and people being asked to isolate at home and only the essentials workers out and folk shopping.

Herself was saying that it’s moving to GP being able to order the tests and it will take 3-4 days to get a result.

just pointing out the real ''worst case'' as opposed to your version.
HSE have been running at about 50% of demand for a while and this'll come home to roost now

That's true but the army and police are being used to enforce that. Couldn't be enforced in the country really. What about contractors going to do work on farms and such. The big cities yes you could lock things up tight and that could be the case
