I saw something about lads going around planting here there and everywhere in cities.
Guerrilla gardening they were calling it!

Was in Amsterdam years ago, and they were giving away packets of seed ( in the Cannabis museum) encouraging you to sprinkle them in public flower beds etc..

What chainsaw would you recommend for light work like fencing and cutting some firewood? I wouldn't be knocking big tree's or using it every day. Most of it's use would be clearing brash out of the way during fencing so a nice handy light saw is a must, I don't want a heavy dog of a thing that I'll be killed carrying.

I have a cheap knock off brand saw that I bought new maybe 3 year's ago and it's done a fair bit of work and got lots of abuse. However the fuel tank has developed a leak and I'd say it's day is nearly done but it doesn't owe me much at this stage. It's a bit heavy and under powered so I'd be interested in spending a few hundred if I got a nice handy saw with a bit more power.

A neighbor has a Tanaka saw with a 14" bar (think the model number is 335 or similar) that I used for awhile recently and I was very impressed. It's a nice light saw with lots of power, we were clearing along a boundary fence and it flew threw everything we encountered. I wouldn't mind spending €300-400 if I got something that would last a few years and done the work outlined above.

I'm impressed with the Tanaka brand. My brother has a Tanaka strimmer and a hedge trimmer that are up on 20 years old. They run as well as they did from new and he services them himself. We have a Oleo Mac chain saw that we use when fencing. It's cheap and light to use but I doubt it will be around in 20 years time.

How did they get the knitting around the tree trunks?

They knit the stuff at home & then stitch it onto the trees/benches/statues etc late at night.

He might include a module on sending her down to an undersea research vessel that only has communication with the outside world every 10 years or whenever she has solved the meaning of life
I'll write it if ye like

    I agree.
She’s a manufactured brand by her parents and other vested interests. That’s exploitation of a kid which is not a nice thing.

The speaks with such vile anger sometimes and I think there have been other issues in the last with mutism, As a parent I fear very much she is hasn’t had a nice family life behind closed doors, or some other traumatic time.
She’s a kid though and some of the disgusting things said about her personally have been disturbing.

Is it allowed to throw those wildflower seeds on the banks of new roads where it's only stemmy grass growing? And would the grass have to be cut first or would the seeds thrive and outgrow it?

It’s called gurilla gardening and if there is thick grass there I’d say you will have very little success.

Are you talking about a folk remedy or something like Voltorol gel and/or an elastic bandage? Or something else?

    Not your ornery onager

Maybe a bottle of something from Sean Boylan? Or are you thinking of a faith healer/bonesetter?

No he's on about people that have this cure passed down to them from the previous generation using "prayer and erbs".

I know two people with the cure but one has given it up and the other wouldn't be in the greatest health atm.

If you burn your ankle I can cure that :D

The local (late) undertaker here had the cure of the sprain, used to go to him myself.

Is there anywhere you can find out information on the cures, not the cure itself but cures in general? Only realised last night i had a cure done on me before unknownst to myself a few years back.

It's warmer now than it was all day imo. Just in from pulling a calf for an older neighbor and good friend, he was always very good to me growing up and it's nice to be able to return the gesture whenever possible. A nice Limousine bull calf out of a roan Shorthorn cow, the ideal suckler imo. It's a lovely night out, very mild and bright.

I've an old folklore book here which is where I read about most of them. So probably something like that? I'll see if I can root it out tomorrow to get the title.

My OH believed in all that..... until she met me, I'm too cynical.
She used to phone a number in the north for the cure of orf and be told ''it'd be gone in a week or ten days'' and mostly it would be.
One year I asked her not to and it was gone in about a week or ten days

Just so you know, she probably did it anyway when you were out :P

I just find them very interesting, how our ancestors had such faith in these things & the roots of where they came into being.

Decision on leaving cert seems to be heading towards predicted grades rather than exams.

By end of July we should be in phase 4 of the lockdown so the logistics of having kids milking about should be well understood.

I wonder what is the factor pushing this change ??

We have a ratio of about 1:1 teachers and leaving certificate students with ample schools across the country to host small groups of students.

Seems an odd decision to me.

I think it’s another example that areas of the crisis response managed under the professional team of Tony Holohan have been strong, but where the FG government make decisions without guidance it’s business as usual and it’s sub par decision making.
Same way they are pushing to allow airlines refund with vouchers rather than cash - that’s putting airlines above citizens needs.

If we are doing as well as they say with this Covid, I think it’s a wrong decision. Any teachers I’ve been talking to, including myself were ready to supervise in August. We are adjacent to a primary school and our main building is too old for social distancing so we were preparing prefabs and the primary school for the exam.

Predictive grade are not optimum when there hasn’t been continuous assessment. For example, our mocks are in January and students have projects due, the usually focus more to get projects complete and real banked percents rather than focus on the mocks.

Plenty of partying for LCs now.

I think all kids should go back to school hopefully in September were they left off in March. Might not be popular but I think it's the fairest. Leaving cert could be sat maybe in November and college start in January. Communion and confirmation could be done in the autumn too. Then kids move on to new class or year after Christmas
