Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

1 acre site with derilict cottage.

I am hoping to purchase a log cabin, in tipperary. Will I need planning?

New access will need to be made. The cottage will also need to be knocked but may be able to be converted to a shed.

The last elec service to the site was in the 70's.

Nearest power and mains water is approx 600 metres from site. Will it be expensive to be connected

is sinking a well an option?

Planning will be needed. Also planning for a log cabin is extremely difficult as most of them do not meet current building regulations. Have a search here and you will see similar threads. Best of luck

the very first thing you should do is to apply for Irish water to first see if they can connect you, and second what the charge would be....

    that could take 3 months

Below 500M is a fixed charge of circa 2K for ESB. Above that could be expensive.

About 2k to get a well drilled and another 2k for pump installation.

BTW, I have a cheap log cabin on an out farm. Solar for low wattage electricity and rainwater holding tank for water. Mobile broadband. Gas for heating in winter. I use it as an out office and sometimes sleep there during lambing. Was about 5K to purchase, insulate and setup.
