The Green New Deal definitely stinks of the old socialist con-game.
    Other people’s money.

The term “insane” understates how bad the ideas presented in this resolution really are.

But the green new deal is not advocating the use of other people's money as proponents of it realise our modern monetary systems don't use other people's money, that money is simply created with bonds via central banks and other financial institutions

Oh ffs, large amounts of money creation can be done without creating hyper-inflation situations, central banks around the world have been printing money in the trillions since the crash in the form of qe, as you can see, we re currently living in our global liquidity meltdown, oh wait, no we re not, so much so, central banks are slowly moving towards negative rates, to try cause inflation

A woman originally from Belarus living here in Ireland once told me about a visit home to see her grandmother, whose complaint was in the Soviet days they had lots of money but there was nothing to buy in the shops, now the shelves are full but she can't buy much. Under magic money theory if the government determines what should be regarded as money and what its value is, this also means that the government dictates the rate of exchanges between money and goods and services within an economy (i.e. price controls). This means that prices are set by the government and bypasses market forces. Well, as the anecdote above shows chaos results and within the Soviet system that led to inefficient use of resources followed by economic impoverishment.

Since our "Leaders failed us on climate change" that implies we need to replace them with benevolent climate dictatorships.

Socialists are just one part of the green spectrum there is also the upper middle class political correctness to consider.

Kristian Niemietz makes the observation that politically correct opinions are a marker of social status. The idea being you meet with strangers at an event and you know nothing about them having never met before and one individual starts talking about GMO foods and the other about Oughterard.

Having the right opinions on GMO foods is perceived as a high social status opinion likely to be from an wealthier class person while being questioning direct provision centres is seen as a low social status opinion. It is from that that political correctness is derived and that is eventually adopted by politicians i.e. there go the people. I must follow them for I am their leader. And then it occurred to me the it is not about scientific consensus [science is not done by consensus], CAGW is really about social consensus, the great and the good with higher social status express the opinion that climate change is bad because "the science" and without batting an eyelid they will hop on a private planes to warm locations on the planet for their vacations. They don’t see the contradiction in their behaviour because having the right opinion on climate change is about social status.

so leaving banks or 'market forces', otherwise known as bull****, with its invisible hands or whatever, to create our money via credit creation, doesnt cause problems, such as 'credit crisis'?

again, central banks have already been creating money, in the trillions since the crash, please show me where the inflation is, oh and let central banks know, as they are also looking for this inflation! no need for magical money trees, our money creation systems are already rather magical as they are

if people are pissed with low returns from their deposits, wait till negative rates are introduced!

'public' financial institutions, such as the eib and the ecb, have the ability to create bonds, these bonds can then be used to finance public investment projects such as green energy projects, without creating adverse problems such as hyper-inflation, this is the bases of the green new deal, this is loosely based on Roosevelt's new deal program, which is believed to have been very successful, particularly in creating public infrastructure

You might also look into the organisations that have taken control of your offspring and what they intend to do, lets start with globalclimatestrike.net which is a front for 350.org.
The climate crisis is an emergency – we want everyone to start acting like it. We demand climate justice for everyone. Our hotter planet is already hurting millions of people. If we don’t act now to transition fairly and swiftly away from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy for all, the injustice of the climate crisis will only get worse. We need to act right now to stop burning fossil fuels and ensure a rapid energy revolution with equity, reparations and climate justice at its heart.

Already, then, this isn't just about saving the planet - it's about 'Climate Justice'. What exactly do they mean by reparations, how is this calculated and who exactly will be paying?

Then follow the link that defines "Climate Justice" you get taken to the People's Demands for COP24 held in Katowice, Poland last year to which Greta gave a speech to an empty room.

The people making the demands in this case are a coalition of left-wing global activist groups. How many people are told about this? Are their parents aware? What else do these groups want?

I don't disagree with all you say. I'll just pick up on this in Ireland and elsewhere in the world that inflation manifests as the rent crisis and insurance premiums. Killing the interest rates has meant the only place that pension funds can earn sufficient yield is in property and that's give rise to the so called "vulture funds". In the process the ECB has also collapsed the bond market which is where pension funds and insurance companies would traditionally have earned income. A correction is inevitable.

Nothing stopping right wing climate change activists agitating for change. Haven't come across too many though. Dunno why that is. Maybe most right wingers are too stupid, too scared or too uneducated to grasp reality.

As to your point about skipping school, it makes me imagine a class of kids sitting dutifully in a shell of a school building in the middle of a post-apocalyptic desert :pac: Get your priorities straight. Hundreds of Irish kids go on the mitch every day and just go knacker drinking.

What do you think most of the protesting students did for the weekend after the school strike. Most of them consumed like demons and continue to do so.

Greta is traveling around with a team of handlers consuming resources unnecessarily. Her UN speech could have been done at home with modern technology. She is all for other people to give up economic growth and live frugally but not her or her family. Did she ask her mother to stop her book being published, which will destroy many trees?

Was on Book Depository yesterday and saw that Greta has her own book out.

They are biding their time stocking up on ammo, food and gold ready to fight off the zombies from the coming climate apocalypse. Otherwise they are just getting on with their lives as best as possible while trying to workaround and resist the increased taxation and restrictions of freedom of thought and movement imposed by the left using the cover of a "climate emergency".

These posters are equating macroeconomics as a whole with Communism, now...

That's pretty much making clear that they want to shut down discussion of practically all economic issues (which are central to resolving climate change) - they were even threatening to abuse the 'report post' system to achieve this, previously.

You might ask yourself that same question and you may comfort yourself with the thought that your ignorance is bliss uncritically accepting that Greta is pushing catastrophic anthropogenic global warming and intoning we should listen to the science. When the prophet (peace be upon her) reveals that we should "Unite behind the science" its in the same religious context as "Unite behind the word of God".

I have read and believe the science. That's all. I don't care about Greta. Comparing what she says to the word of God is a transparent and trite attempt at deflection.

But look, some people are frightened by the reality of climate change and convince themselves that it's a conspiracy by the left to take over people's minds and that this child is a dangerous threat. That's plain stupid and cowardly. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid and you can't fix cowardice.

 Oh look, a Libertarian constantly citing Koch-funded/oil-oligarch think-tanks, is trying to point out an alleged conflict of interest!

These Libertarians are among the most well known propagandists on the Internet, next in line perhaps to Pro-Israel trolls that screech "Anti-Semitism!" all the time - with these guys screeching "Communism!" all the time instead.

Anyway, what this is all about is that we are simply being softened up for the upcoming hike in carbon taxes. Not much more that that.

Will it change purchasing habits? No, not in our case anyway as you just simply have to drive a fair bit when you live in rural Ireland. And yes, we also burn a certain amount of (smokeless) coal to keep warm. So these increases will just add to the annual bills.

There are over 60 countries in the world with higher carbon emissions than Ireland.
Idiots next month will be casually walking by Chinese embassy to get to the city centre to protest for a week.

That's a BS argument given some of the most fundamental elements of science are testing, measuring, recording, analysing, comparing and crucially, documenting for further review and critical analysis.

You said "believe the science". Do you really? or is it make believe masquerading as science? Having read the literature you will know what the a disconnect between what Greta and the scientists say is and you will also realise that she did not come to her point of view listening to scientists on the subject of climate change.

Some people are frightened of the monsters under the bed when you put them to bed. It is your duty to allay their fears and calm them. Greta has a history of self harm and if your child is influenced by her they may seek to emulate her, this is why you should care about Greta and in particular what your own children are learning by her example and what are you setting them up for if they start believing this end of times narrative.

Self-Harm Versus the Greater Good: Greta Thunberg and Child Activism
