I have a question about this. If, as has been claimed, she has completed oodles of courses already with As & Bs and apparently has no need of school, how can she be on strike?

I think that it is symbolic to continue to call it a strike as that is how it started and she has continued to mark it every Friday, irrespective of where she is.

I think she has finished compulsory school, unless the school wants her to repeat the year she "missed"

I wonder what will happen when her proles realise that Greta is well funded, has millionaire parents and school doesn’t matter a damn to her.

Skipping skool to protest might seem like a good idea, but unless you’re from a background similar to Greta, it’s going to cost you.

It's a pretty genius plan alright.
Mixing something kids love (not going to school) with something you want (climate action and social control).

I'm all for a bit of mixing....some fantastic technique on display right here....

Whilst Greta may not actually get what she want's....I do hope she will get what she Needs.....:)

Good to know our prez is a climate commie. The fact most people voted for him in the election means maybe this thread isnt a valid barometer for Irish people after all.

Unless you can show that Higgins ran on a platform highlighting climate change and the need for action, your comment is nonsense.

I was listening to one falla on radio this morning saying pollution levels in Letterkenny are off the scale and killing people. They monitored pollution levels and they are higher than polluted cities of India.......allegedly.

So now they want a ban on all coal, wood and turf burning to heat your homes and he reckons in 10 years fires in the home will be banned and a thing of the past.

    My view is..........limit the people.

I heard that too. Wouldnt banning dirty fuel be an attack on rural ireland though?

If they ban home fires there would need to be a replacement heating system installed in homes. This costs money. Of course some may come from grants which the government raises with carbon taxes or even a new tax. The renewable energy movement is now very powerful.

It's an attack on the people of Ireland.

I think if you were camouflaged and waited outside the pubs with an AK47, you could cleanse the place in a week.

He also thought that Fidel Castro was a grand fellow. Does that mean that the majority of Ireland supports mass murdering dictators.

There was a woman from the EPA on Pat Kenny show 2 years ago saying that the monitored air quality in irish cities was very good. Presented all the data and her feeling was ireland had good air quality.

Eamon Ryan was on the very next segment, had not heard the previous segment and proceeded to say ireland air quality was as bad as Shanghai !! Pat mentioned the previous segment and eamon doubled down saying "his" figures showed otherwise. It was at this point I lost respect for the green party. Never let the facts get in the way of Eamon's narrative.

We support murderous governments like china and the USA by trading with with them so yes why not Fidel too.

They said it was worse than *some* areas of New Delhi. What areas? The outskirts? A large park? Was it consistently worse, or just one particularly unwindy day?

If it sounds like bullshlt, it probably is.

'A giant among men' was how he referred to him. I'm sure most of the people he oppressed would disagree. The little pinko socialist has at least two private homes, no sign of him putting homeless people or refugees in those though. Easy to preach the do as I say not as I do message when your a millionaire being funded with taxpayer money to live a jet set lifestyle and are completely out of touch with reality.

He kicked out some students he had been renting to in Galway recently. He’s like all of them, ‘do as I say, not as I do’.

When you use any terms like 'far right' you lose all credibility in your argument because it gives the impression as being some kind of Nazi.

All the Daily Mail does is offer an alternative to 'Lefty' newspapers and doesnt promote skin head thugs or Nazis.

Whereas the 'Left' is associated with Antifa.

Most people are decent enough and getting on with their lives and some may have opinions that don't suit your own world view. That's called life.

While the internet may bask in wild extremes the real world does not. Do you even know what a far right person looks like or is it just something you splutter when you've nothing else to say?

Dismount your high horses. Look up "far" in the dictionary. How far does a piece of string go? There is no agreed definition of the length of far in politics or in life. The Daily Mail sure as hell isn't near right.

The climate change deniers can continue shooting the messenger but, heads in the sand or not, the message won't change.

@Maryanne84: Keep reading the Daily Mail. Is that where you read about Devalera being a drunk? Remember?

And now I'm out of here for Christmas. Hostilities will be resumed in the new year. Seasonal greetings to all, including climate change deniers
