Eir FTTH Installation without phone line?

    Hi all, wondering if anyone knows the answer to this one.

    Looking at buying a house but just found out that it has no existing phoneline. On the Eir FTTH checker it says that FTTH is available at the Eircode and Openeir map shows it as a blue premises. (Map is apparently out of date and FTTH is available in the village for the past few weeks).


    I'm not sure if there is any Hydrodare type piping for a landline but guessing not. In the case of a 'new' connection, do they sometimes run the fibre connections from poles? (I can see a telephone pole not far from this house supplying other houses).

    Any advise / experience much appreciated!

    It can be supplied overhead from a pole or underground through ducting. How it would be delivered to your premises would depend on the existing infrastructure in your area. When you order with an ISP an installer will come to your premises and make an assessment of what is needed to have the service installed. You may need no intervention and he can install there and then or you may need new pole(s) which he would arrange.
