    Liverpool-vs-Chelsea-UEFA-Super-Cup-2019-Final.jpg

    Team news:
Liverpool XI: Adrian; Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Milner; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Mane.

Chelsea XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson; Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic; Pedro, Giroud, Pulisic.

Oxlade-Chamberlain an interesting call from Klopp. Gomez presumably in there on the basis he'd be better capable of handling Pulisic than T.A.A..

Both sides looked dodgy defensively in their league openers but Chelsea especially will need to improve at the back if they are to have any hope of a win tonight, particularly Zouma and Azpilicueta. Kante should help matters and the midfield looks designed to stifle.

How do you see the game going? I'll say Liverpool with a 2-0 win.

Should be an easy win for Liverpool.

    I'd expect a Liverpool win

Neither team need this glorified friendly in the back arse of Istanbul.

    I'd guess goals. I'll 3-2 Chelsea.
    Giroud to get a hattrick

Kerr failing the Firmino test. Not the first, won't be the last.

Some Liverpool fans still struggle with it.

Still can't believe who is in charge. I mean call me old fashioned but I don't think it's a great appointment with the lack of experience at the big stage. Purely a PR exercise.

Frank Lampard, as Chelsea manager. Not for me, thanks.

There's no point bringing in a world class manager who can't buy players. Lampard is no risk and fills the gap until next summer.

Yep. Get top 6 he's done a decent job, top 4 he's done great. Gives them 12 months to keep looking and they can stick or twist depending on how he does. They want to be absolutely shocking for him to get sacked too

There will be a Current Affairs topic created moaning that there is an female officiating team

Thats it if they are low well we could not sign anyone and then they can pay him off when some experience if they get top 4 it is great and he stays on win-win

Expect Liverpool to win this with plenty to spare but it is a final.

Fancy the ox to sneak a couple.

Anyone but Chelsea for me to lift the trophy.

Predict a three nil Liverpool win , the Egyptian guy will throw himself to the ground every three minutes

Peno, no? Arms out pretty far from the initial replay

Liverpool fans booing Chelsea because they bought success.

One is definitely from Wexford and she assisted in the wwc final a few weeks ago. . Fifa and Var reviews showed she got every major decision right. The men could learn a lot from her .

Yeah thought the new rule was accidental or not, it's a handball.

They should have added that the ball has to be inside the quadrant when they were adjusting other rules. It's so annoying

It'll be very interesting to see how they fare tonight. Different level of cheating with men.

Get the feeling that Chelsea will be on the end of another 4-0 here if Liverpool get their scoring boots on. Plenty of chances.

    Adrian looks as dodge.

Then it would be inconsistent with all other laws regarding the ball and lines on the pitch. Once the ball is over any part of the line, even a mm, then it’s not outside the quadrant.

1 chance so far. The ball over the top or in behind from Chelsea looks the most dangerous of anything from either team.

Pedro has started this game well. Not far away there.

Wasn't expecting this to be so open.

Chelsea winning the cross bar challenge again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

So close from Pedro! Would had been a cracker

Pool look all over the shop at the back.

Also that's Chelsea midfield trio seems super defensive on paper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,315 ✭✭✭Sam Hain

Chelsea have really grown into this game. Matip looks like a weak point for the attack to take advantage of, and the they are also closing Liverpool down in key areas with great effect.

Liverpool dominated the first 10-15mins, but since then it's been Chelsea. Open game.

Lineswoman shouldn’t have flagged there. He was offside but if he wasn’t...****storm

    Kante is playing well.

One of the chances on target was a harmless header into Kepas hands. Hardly plenty of chances as you claim. Oh hold one another great chance, eeerrrrmm not really just another harmless header. Harmless header stats, you have destroyed Chelsea.

    ?

Sure what's the point of them then?

Pretty sure they're supposed to let play go when using VAR and flag when the phase of play is over. If it's clearly off it might be different

Thought they changed that after the WWC? These ladies would know for certain anyway.

    Kante has been superb.

Maybe so, I hadn't heard, and yeah, I presume they know what they're at! :)

Ye I just remember in the World Cup they never flagged in the World Cup. Maybe it’s been tweaked?
