I'm amazed by the pace of this game. It's 100 mph. Night and day in comparison to the borefest finals we got served.

1-0 Chelsea. Giroud with the calm finish.

Kante making a big difference in midfield.

Wow, 0-1 Chelsea. Lovely bit of football. Kante has been his ridiculous best so far.

So glad kante didn't start against united at the weekend

Delighted to see Kante doing well, really suffered under Sarri

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,954 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Correct call

Liverpool under a lot of pressure here, they're very poor so far

They said on commentary let the attack finish as was correctly done that time so might have been premature first offside?

    Chelsea winning.
    Splendid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I imagine Klopp will bring on Firmino for Milner, push Oxlade-Chamberlain deeper. Wijnaldum a good bench option as well.

Credit to Chelsea for taking control of the game so far.

Have to hand it to Chelsea, they played very well in that half. If they put another 45 mins in like that, Liverpool will need to pull out their 'A' game to get this done.

Liverpool midfield has been very poor, can barely keep the ball for 2 passes. Should be doing much better, I can't remember Fabinho making one forward pass, either giving it away or passing it back to the defence. Chelsea seem to have much more energy than Liverpool, despite having 2 days less rest.

    Kante is class. So good

No width on the right, no nothing on the left with OxCham bearly moving, no Firmino to link middle and attack, Milner and Hendo all over the place. Gomez likewise. Luckily all of the above can be fixed with subs.

1-1. Mane with the finish following Firmino's touch. Game on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,005 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Keeper needed to be much stronger there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

I'm still waiting for the VAR to confirm that :)

I thought that on first viewing, but he got a reasonable hand to Firmino's sideways touch but Mane was clever and got a bit of luck. Maybe he should have closed down Firmino with a bit more authority.

Chelsea are wide open, Liverpool passing and walking through them with ease

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,755 ✭✭✭This is it

I don't know if Klopp let rip in the dressing room or Firmino is making such a huge difference but there's so much space now for Liverpool. Chelsea need to close up at the back

1-1. Mane with the finish following Firmino's touch. Game on.

It is a game though. Both teams are going to concede more goals here. Neither look good at the back.

Tried to be too clever there TWICE!! Just needed to put the laces through it.

Henderson had the elegance of a new born deer taking its first steps through long grass, when he tried that flick/back heel in the box.

Had plenty of room in the first 10-15 mins of the game also. Klopp should have started with Firmino, wrapped up the game in the first half and rested players in the second half.

Firmino is like the glue in this Liverpool side that ties it all together. Always look better when he's on the field.

He's better at lifting big ears.

Liverpool with one hell of a high press, Klopp has done his homework, the Chelsea attack for its efficiency lacks pace and bite with Hazard gone.

These delayed offside flags would do your nut in.

Liverpool wouldn't be level after 60 mins if he'd done his homework.

Pulisic looks like a whippet, nearly got in behind on a few occasions in the first half.

    Neither side looks bothered defending.
End to end cracker for us neutrals!

    Unreal double save from Kepa.

Kepa flipping between brilliant and awful.

That double save just wow... even better when you see the massive deflection on the first shot.....

Think the officials have done a good job so far...just the offside flagging rules are just going to take time to get used to

Anyone think the 2nd shot was straight at him, decent stop but straightforward

Some lovely reactions saves from kepa especially the follow up from Virgil

Nah he repositioned so quickly to be "straight" in front of it. Excellent stuff. Great read.

It was. But it's the pace he got up and back into position.

It would have been unbearable if VVD had scored a potential winner,. On Virgin, Keith Andrews is verbally sucking him off any chance he gets.
