Didnt want to show the woman up in her first big game I presume

Or maybe they didn't show the angle that confirmed it as a penalty, I presume.

    Edit... definitely wasn't a peno :D

Why arent they calling her out on Bt it was no penalty, she ****ed up. Treat her the same as the men.

That's what I mean though. VAR shouldn't be based on an angle not shown. It just muddys the water

The referee said it was a pen, there was no angle disproving it for VAR. It's not difficult to understand. This is gonna be a long season with people obsessing over VAR.

Imagine if they reversed the womans decison, we'd never hear the end of it. It Would be like coming home to the wife late from the pub in a stupor every night.

    Yeah that's not a pen.

Not sure Adrian should have been out there anyway.

No excuse for ****ing that penalty decision up with VAR on hand.

If she f***** up Var would have overturned the decision

Seen some more replays, not sure why VAR didn't overturn the referee's on field decision!

Why didn't they so. Have we seen a pen overturned yet.

They didn't f it up. They reviewed it and they confirmed that it was a penalty. Must have been contact there.

Not even difficult to see on the reverse angle.

I can kinda understand why it looked a pen from the ref's angle but it wasn't.

The angle shown on BT pretty much showed it wasn't a pen

    Can you see contact here?

I thought it was a peno, contact was clear in the angle shown... should it have been a red though for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity? Can VAR adjudicate on that ?

That's the modern rules where contact like the above is a penalty. Under current rules clear penalty

That rule was removed years ago.

Better team tonight by a fair bit.

Liverpool really poor with nothing going through the midfield

On my 4K TV it was clear there was zero contact. Harder to see it on the scaled down Twitter link.

Chelsea created a fair few chances on Sunday. If they can stay tight at the back they may have a decent season,Kante is massively important for them.

A lot of those angles being mentioned aren't ideal to see it.

If you go to 0:32 below you can see there is slight contact (the angle from the rear):

Disastrous evening for both sides really. 120 mins so early in the season, games at the weekend. All for the European equivalent of the community shield.

Chelsea let them off the hook here, surprised. Should have been a handy win for Liverpool you'd think. Poor energy though which would be a worry probably early in the season

Would be good to see Chelsea win, I do think they deserve it.

OK so everybody knows that keepers can't come off their line anymore and that there are Camera's looking to see if the keepers come off of their line.

I bet the keepers don't (despite the ref telling them)

Adrian is better at penalties so I'm going with Liverpool win.

Whatever happened the ABBA system for shootouts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,033 ✭✭✭✭Richard Hillman

Adrian is off his line for every penalty. If if he saves one, it will be pulled back

    Not a chance.

    Terrible penalty there from Abraham

Edit: And as you could see, Adrian off his line. Not called back.

Yep but it looks like they are going to forget about it. Chelsea's last two penalties were very poor.
