Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering, if you phone an ambulance in Leixlip/Celbridge/Maynooth, which hospital are you usually brought to? And to which public hospital are people usually referred by their GP?

Blanchardstown for ambulance unless its a specific emergency where there is a more suitable specialist centre or Blanchardstown is off-call.

Blanchardstown/James/Tallaght/Naas/Mater for referrals depending on specialist.

Thanks. Hate Blanchardstown, but not much can be done about it I suppose.

Awful kip... my wife had the misfortune of ending up in it once and literally almost died before they transferred her.

Yes, it's awful. Would try make my own way elsewhere to avoid it in an ambulance.

I'm buying in the area and this is unfortunately something I have to think about. St James' would be better for me, or Tallaght would do. Blanchardstown is just not up to the job in my experience, yet it seems to be the main on call hospital for such a massive radius even though other hospitals are about the same distance.

Most of the hospitals specialise now, so it depends on the nature of the complaint, i.e. St James' is the heart specialist. If you get a heart attack in Mullingar for instance, you are brought to St James'.

Is it not Naas or Blanchardstown depending on which one is on call?

As far as I know Blanchardstown is preferred even if both are on call. But that's third or fourth hand info

Yeah Blanch has dreadful reputation ( despite frontline staff no doubt doing best with what hideous govt provides them) Knew someone arrived before midday with fairly serious broken bones injury that subsequently required weeks in hospital .Left still unseen and drove( well their partner) to private hospital at 3/4am .Pity those who can't afford to do same ...Double taxation for Middle Ireland - PRSI AND health insurance .In fairness ,health system in final throes before planned privatisation .... :-(
