    Decent chance for Inaki Williams.

In going to pretend to know about la liga by saying Williams would be a nice option next summer for Liverpool. Athletic have had some good chances.

I wonder what Valverde does during the week at Barca. 30 minutes in & I've no clue what they are meant to be doing as everything looks off the cuff.

Wtf is the FPS camera for

    Some interesting graphics!

Athletic got away with one there. Love the commentary: "Oh noooooooo!"

Sits in his office with a tear in his eye looking out the window at Messi being the real manager the team.

No Coutinho, Suarez injured, Messi not in squad.

    Athletic need some patience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Not happening for Barca, although Rafinha went close just before the break. Replay showed it was a nice save from Simon.

Rakitic looks a good option off the bench. Busquets also. Would be a good time for Dembele to step up as I thought he was anonymous.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Dembele another very expensive disappointment. Athletic weathered the Barca storm. Time is now thier friend.

Outstanding goal! Contender for goal of the season already

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Great finish but what a shambles of a performance the last 89 minutes have been from Barca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭ollie1

    Great goal that was

I have lots of love for Aritz Aduriz.

Great start to the campaign for Athletic Club. So delighted.

And it was such a great strike too.

Great game for the neutral! Barca look like a collection of parts from a football skip.

As bad a starting 11 and performance as I can remember from Barca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Was looking like an underwhelming start to the league but that Aduriz goal was special. Don't think Barca can have many complaints about the scoreline. They looked well off their best. Only 2 shots on target which is shocking for them.

They've had worse starting XI's so your memory must only go back the last 10 years.

Barca like a few other big clubs could save a lot of money if they went out and hired a proper manager instead of buying Neymar as it would benefit them far more in the long run.

I know what they need to fix it

    Neymar

hehheheheheheheh if he can run like Iniesta and pass like Xavi and maybe tackle like Busquets you are spot on. But you are not, you are a million miles from being spot on. Barcas issues where quite clear tonight, is Valverde gonna get his team or the one that the fans want.

His 1st touch, barca were not great trying to hit the front men early and obviously missing players but 1st touch......

Bale has to be the MOTM today

He still has that unbelievable pace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

That Toni Kroos goal was a cracker.

4-4 game between Villarreal and Granada.

Real Score late only for Real Valladolid to equalise with minutes to play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

James played for Madrid for the first time in 824 days apparently. He had one or two decent chances.

Lovely flick by Gabriel Fernandez for Celta's winner against Valencia. Cillesen looked to have a good game for Valencia and saved a pen.

How did Maxi Gomez play? Read a piece on a WHU site that he's struggling badly, but you'd take that with a pinch of salt all things considered

Seems like he was anonymous. Didn't manage a shot and they took him off around the hour mark. I would have expected he'd be well up for it against his former side. Not sure how fit he is atm.

    Team news:
Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Sergi Roberto, De Jong; Rafinha, Griezmann, Carles Perez.

Real Betis XI: Dani; Emerson, Bartra, Sidnei, Pedraza; Guardado, William, Canales; Fekir, Moron, Tello.

That's not a Barca line-up to be feared. Betis won here 4-3 last season. Wonder can they get a result once again...

Don't know what FDJ was at there...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,755 ✭✭✭This is it

If they scored that... Beautiful passing

    His knees looked grand there.

Lovely finish, pointed to exactly where he wanted it and slotted it past MATS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Lovely ball from Sergi Roberto to Griezmann. Betis need to make sure they go in at least level.

And Rafinha just missed a great chance for 2-1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,856 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Hanging on but if It ends like this It will be a good result for us. With Fekir anything is posible, a special player. I'd bring on Joaquín in the second half to calm people down and use his experience. You can see that Betis lack a destroyer, hopefully they can sign one before the transfer window closes.

I don't get how Rafinha missed that. He has a very poor end product. Barcelona are mising the directness of Suarez, Messi obviously and Dembele's pace. Rafinha, Perez, De Jong, Griezmann all looking to build up play.

An ideal solution here would be Coutinho banging one in from 30 yards..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Beautiful strike from Griezmann. That will do his confidence a lot of good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 540 ✭✭✭Equium

    Great 2nd goal from Griezmann.

So far, Carles Perez has looked like he won a competition to play in the Camp Nou.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

That was nicely done by Perez. Probably game over now.

Alba makes it 4-1. Certainly over now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,856 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Said it all during the second half of last season that guardado has to be sold. He's been shít for ages.

If you were to believe social media, 'ValverdeOut' reigns supreme since Roma. Nou Camp is clearly very different, clearly behind them.

Vidal gets in on the act now. 5-1.

16 year-old Ansu Fati on as a sub for Barca.
