Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm amazed this Barca team are only a point behind with the Clasico in 2 weeks time. They were so poor at home to Getafe on Saturday & seem to be a total mess off the pitch. Messi is the leagues top scorer but only has 14 goals which seems pretty low for him & the league in general.

I thought they did reasonably well on Saturday. Maybe 60 minutes were really good, the last 30 minutes they did lose their way but Getafe are a good side, they play like the old Simeone Atletico, very dangerous and their league position reflects that.

Should one of the worlds biggest clubs not have a big enough squad to deal with such?

    It deserved a point.

Is it a precendent? It’s just a rule that they can sign a player I understand because certain terms have been met in the absences they have. AFAIK they can only sign a player from La Liga- slim enough pickings.

Bartomeu in another scandal ,this time he is accused of hiring a social media firm to orchestrate a smear campaign against Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Pep Guardiola and Co while improving his own image
    https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2020/02/17/5e4a8518ca4741da398b4576.html

He has to go in the summer ,he is a complete buffoon and a shyster.

Have they got that many absences though that warrant them needing to sign a new player? IMO it’s wrong on every level if the below is true.

It’s a rule the clubs themselves voted for. It’s not Barca flexing their influence. It just a rule that any club can take advantage of.

So Barcelona sign Leganes top scorer with them in relegation trouble and La Liga don't allow them any chance to replace him. That has to be the stupidest rule I have ever heard. How is this fair in any way at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Doesn't make sense. They still have Griezmann, Messi and Fati as a front three. Surely supplemented by the youth team or else play someone out of position.
Doesn't seem like an emergency situation.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,957 ✭✭✭Dots1982

Again; this is a rule the clubs themselves voted in.

Yes but who decides what constitutes an emergency?

The rule does, it’s not subject to an arbitrary decision.

I think the rule is any player with an injury of over 4 months can be replaced outside the transfer window.

    There’s no real controversy here.

Commentator annoying me here calling Pique "Pick-A"

Very disappointing result for Madrid, losing 1-0 at Levante. They're now 2 points off Barca at the top. Paco Lopez seems to have a good record against Spain's big sides. Morales with a great hit for the winner, while Benzema and Hazard spurned good chances 1v1. To make matters worse, it seems like Hazard is injured again. Was looking forward to seeing him against Man City.

Messi was superb. We're almost desensitized to it at this stage. Weird seeing Braithwaire in a Barca jersey.

Very good win for Sociedad. Brilliant strike from Januzaj for the third goal. It's been a miserable week for Valencia. I'd like Sociedad to make the CL.

Looks like he's out for the season. Fractured fibula.

Anyone here with a crystal ball have an idea of the likelihood of Spain playing La Liga matches behind closed doors?
We're fully booked to bring the young lad over to see Messi on the 12th of April.
Our first overseas soccer trip, we've only been to domestic matches up to now.
Things seem to be getting worse fairly quickly in Spain.

Been very open. Amazing it’s still 0-0 at the break but the final ball from both sides has been terrible.

Griezmann's passinbg has been dreadful. A disgrace.

The ads on LaLigaTV are like ones where the person who made them knew what football was but never watched a game. How much acid would someone take before they'd try compare football to William Shakespeare, insects & fruit.

    LaLiga TV

i didn't even realise this existed until 2 minutes ago, I never scroll any further down the channels than BT.

Was wondering why it didnt seem to be on

Ter Stegen with an unbelievable save, very under appreciated keeper IMO.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Braithwaite did more in one minute than Messi or Griezmann have the last 70. Might say more about Barca than any article tomorrow
1-0 Real off a fortuitous deflection from Pique.

    And Madrid go one up

Terrible defending Pique, just backed off too much.

It was the only way Vinicius would score ,his finishing is woeful.

Casemiro should get a yellow for that ridiculous reaction to the foul too.

He looked like he was shot in the back with a shotgun from close range.

He's committed 4 fouls and hasn't been booked. Knows how to play this ref, clearly.

Sad to see how much Messi's legs have gone. Still the best player in the world, but a shadow of his former self.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Whos the main commentator on LaLigatv. He sounds and talks like an ever so slightly toned down version of the guy that does takeshis castle. Fairly annoying.

Also seems to be slightly behind the play.

He seems to commit loads of fouls in every game ,yet gets away with it.
    Very cynical player.

From that angle he was coming in, Ter Stegen should have just stood up .
