Wiring a pendant light

    I've done this before, but maybe because I'm replacing a ceiling fan with a pendant light the wiring is different.

    I have 3 brown wires 1 live.

    1 Earth (No neutral wire.)

    This is the end of the loop, nothing I can tell is dependent on this

    When the switch is on the power L going to the pendent is 240 when the switch is off there is no power.

    I'm just a bit stumped:(

    Get a REC in. It can't work without a neutral.

    SOLVED:

    One of the brown wires was the neutral and working fine now.

    Is that alright?

    No.

    Neutral cores are not permitted to be marked brown, which is reserved for phase conductors (or L1 of a three-phase supply).

    How did you find it was a Neutral?
