A blog by the netweather poster Glacier Point. Feburary might hold some promise for snow lovers according to him

I'd take anything over all the rain and wind we've been getting since last April. The SAD is really kicking in now.

Rain/sleet never really made it to Castlebar. Brighter skies with some sunshine have now moved down from the NW.

There's a grand stretch in the evenings... certainly here in the west this evening :)

Weather dried up in the afternoon in cork city around 1ish. Beautiful sunset at the moment, sky and clouds are pink. On the bus otherwise would have taken a picture!

Another miserable day! I hate this cold wet weather. So glad that we got outdoors on Sunday + enjoyed the day.

Ah well it's a good excuse to stay in, nice & cosy + watch some tv.

Some violent hail showers passed through Galway today. There was a serious enough crash on the motorway near Athenry during one of the hail showers between 4 and 5pm.

I was freezing all day today (sandyford D18) - could not get warm. Had the heat on but there was cold leaking in everywhere. Every time I let the dogs out (and they didn’t want to go). And running from the house to car had to snuggle into polo neck and puffy coat. What’s going on?

A wild and windy night out here and bitter cold with icy deluges hitting the windows. Just above freezing. West Mayo offshore.

It's January and maybe you need to insulate your home better.

And maybe wear more clothes, what else is to be expected for January in Ireland.

To be fair, it has become much colder the last few days. Takes a little acclimatising to. Just above freezing.

Nice morning in cork city. Sun just coming up and sky is blue. Ground is still damp from yesterday as is the air but it's better then rain! Cold enough too

GFS showing potential for some very high MSLP readings early next week, with readings of up to 1048 hPa in the extreme SE:

Forget what the January record is but this must come close. Something to watch maybe.
