Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are you talking about a hostel, hotel or airbnb & what do you class as cheap?

On a recent trip to Amsterdam, I used hoteltonight.com & actually held off booking accommodation 'til I was sitting at the departure gate in Dublin airport.

Probably a hostel , I had booked a place through Booking .com but there seems to be an issue with collecting the payment ,credit card company say they didn't get a request to pay , hostel ( Wow Amsterdam) say they were declined ?
Just somewhere simple , I will be out most of the time during the trip so just something handy

Years since I stayed in a hostel in A'dam, but clinknoord is a free ferry ride away from Central Station. Essentially behind the station, across the river Ij.

If you're talking about a private room in a hostel, they counter-intuitively often work out more expensive than a similar room in a hotel.

Stayokay at the Vondelpark is a nice spot. Spent a weekend there.

I stayed in Teleport hotel amsterdam as I booked during a peak holiday period and hotels in the centre were very expensive.
It was grand. Not as grungy as it seems to try to be. Clean, quiet, decent sized room with fridge and cheap bike rental from the hotel. I got about by train or bike.

I like staying in art'otel and fashion hotel, both westcord owned...not cheap but good value

If you have plenty of money the Andaz is excellent!

Better off staying in a chain. There's some right kips in Amsterdam that are way over priced.

I've stayed in art'otel & Park Plaza Victoria. Up until recently Club Carlson members could use a code that brought the rate down to €80p/n, which was great value for that location. Alas that code no longer works.

Best value in the city centre imho is the excellent MotelOne Waterlooplein. Can frequently be had for €89 & is less than a 10min walk from Nieumarkt

My sister and her bf stayed at Hotel Heye 130 for a few nights back in May. They liked it, found it comfortable.

We used the Corendon Vitality Hotel Amsterdam when we visited a few years ago. It's a little bit out from the centre but we got a good price and the tram went very frequently from the street outside. About 15 minutes into town.
