Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had to move home a couple of years ago and have not been able to get out since.

All of us work full time.

So I'm sure you can sleep soundly at night, knowing there is no housing crisis in Ireland and all is right with the world.

    You can go and swing.

I'm sorry to hear that, never nice to see people in those sort of circumstances. I hope you and your family can get back on your feet soon.

I worked along side and assisted a homeless department in a Local Authority for several years in the recent past. Unfortunately honesty is often at an absolute premium when people are declaring their homeless circumstances.

Now undoubtedly there were some legitimate, unfortunate cases (eg abusive relationships, repossessions etc), but in my experience the vast majority of people who found themselves 'homeless' fell into at least one of the following 4 categories:

    1. Living in their parents house, having as many children as possible to use as collateral for a council house.

    2. Have drug or alcohol problems and got kicked out. They were usually living with friends or a partner, but denied this vehemently.

    3. Are travellers, not too many of them looking for mortgages or legitimate work.

    4. Are looking for Homeless HAP rather than regular HAP as the rates are better.

Hearing about other people and whats going on in their lives - Gossip, I dont give a **** about it and I wish people would stop telling me about whats going on in the lives of people that I dont know or care about.

I also dont care about people who have gone travelling, they put it on all their social media, tell everyone they come into contact with, no one cares, the only person that cares that they went travelling, is themselves, no one else gives a ****.

To be honest, the more I watch the news these days, the more I realise that so much of it has no bearing on most people's lives.

OK so Brexit, Irish matters etc are important to us to a degree, but topics getting huge coverage, like the HK anti-extradition protests, I could care less about. I won't be flying to HK so the airport could be blocked for the next decade and I'll survive.

PC's or Mac's - no need for them anymore

Playing online - Single player games are way better

Reality TV and anything on RTE

Getting a free mobile upgrade - So many eejits fall for this and pay triple the price

The so called great works or literature and Poetry

    Brexit, Trump & Golf

Expensive Food, clothes & alcohol - It never feels worth the extra €'s

Going to gigs - the music doesnt actually sound better than at home

Actually going to festivals is another one. I dont care how amazing electric shindig or the music at all tomorrow now was unreal, you still spent 300+ quid for a couple of days standing in a field and sleeping in a tent

I don't care about companies coming here and dodging tax... So what if some big US multi national pays 45c per year... not my problem. If we didn't offer them generous "tax arrangements" then they prob wouldn't be here in the first place anyway. Really it doesn't effect you or me!

The British royal family. Although I know loads of people don't give a sh1t about them, especially here on Boards, but the obsession with them that does exist is baffling. They seem like fairly nice people mostly - relatively unassuming, and probably also find the hysteria over them baffling (particularly the older generation) and they're the state's figureheads etc, but the forelock tugging adoration - cringe. Particularly from non British folk.

I guess I do give a sh1t about the worshipping of them. :pac:

Music festivals are actually great if you've somewhere comfortable to stay (was lucky enough to stay at a house for a few Electric Picnics) but camping - misery.

    Greeting cards.

And any bullsh1t day/event/occasion/invented shyte that harangues me into having to f**king buy a greeting card.  Birthdays, anniversaries, kid/work/health/exam/relationship/whatever-related crap, and the big "V day". If you ever want to see human suffering first hand then just watch the miserable men rollings eyes at each other while moping around the Valentine's day card rack trying to find some ridiculously overpriced POS that will pass muster.

    The rugby world cup.

I wonder how many of the goys will be completely out of the loop because the time zone difference will mean that a large chunk of the games will be on before a pub opens.

Free advertising for the lottery. I don't indulge and couldn't care less who wins. Don't know why it is even national "news".

Instagram models and social media influencers - I have friends who talk about the lives of instagram models they follow like they know them personally. Theres cafes and restaurants that are now offering free meals to people who have over a 1000 followers. What is happening.

This might be the worst. I feel sorry for these influencers when this whole instagram trend dies and they're out on there arse with no income. Where are they going to be when they're 50? But then again these people cant see past the next weekend let alone in 10 years time

Yes, I think the owners get €15000.
However the staff might be lucky to get a night out. I'd just feel like a wally jumping around the place if I worked in the shop!

Stick your racist accusation rant up your crack ! I don't care much at all for people looking to make a big deal out of something that had no negative intentions to begin with.. People translate things in their own little minds and it's usually negative.

    Politics,
I dont care who's running the country.

They are going to do what they like, and unfortunately we cant do anything about it, theres too much money in brown envelopes being passed around for anything to ever change.

    I dont care about Brexit.

    The news.
I just dont listen to it.

    Celebrities,
I dont care about them, and I dont need to know what their kids names are or what they had for dinner.
I dont care about who's married to who, I dont need to know.

    Local gossip.
Just not interested in what Mary down the road is up to this sunday.

    "The Football"
I've no interest in what Brazilian or Portuguese player has recently signed for liverpool or Manchester United, and no I didnt see the games over the weekend.

    GAA,
I dont care about hurling/Gaelic football

    A United Ireland,
I dont care about how much you hate the brits and want ireland back, the people living in Northern Ireland today havnt done anything to you.
It's too far in the past now and it's time we just got on with our lives.

    Chart music,
I dont class it as good music, so no, I'm not interested in what's going to number one in the Irish charts.
