New pharmacy looking for a GP

    Hi there,

My business partner and I have been considering a new pharmacy location in a new retail development in a south Dublin suburb (I don’t want to be too specific just yet). We are both pharmacists and feel that it would be a major advantage to have a GP within a close distance.
Any Doctors out there who have been thinking of going out on their own?

I'm going to move this to the South County Dublin forum. You might get a better response there.

    Good luck to you!

Is “going out in their own” a good thing for a GP these days? If anything, I would have thought that most were striving for larger practices.

Setting up as a sole GP wouldn't be economic in south Dublin when you consider the cost of the premises you'd need. Most areas on the southside are also relatively stable in demographic terms meaning that you have an older population who would be reluctant to switch to a new practice.
