Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Virgin switch

Can someone please advise on best options to switch from Virgin.

    Location: Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Currently on 120 MB Virgin Media connection for 59.55 EUR pm (Offered a 250 MB line but without phone for the same price). I didnt know they did not transfer account to new speeds (very sneaky).

Are there any other options? The 120MB line serves me well but VM won't have me pay less for that. So no point in holding on to 120MB.
    Thanks a mil.

I'm on the same boat but I have the 360Mb package. Eir are offering a €40 for 6 months deal including landline (which i don't use very often but still need). Advertised speed is 100Mb.

Is there a way to check if you are in contract other than calling them?

The issue for both of you is that eir and others providers will say up to 100Mb available but that depends on the cabling in your area. It may be 90Mb but it may be 20Mb. Unless you have an active phone line you can't know for sure. You can make an educated guess by using a close neighbours number or by using your address.

At least with Virgin you get what they advertise.

Thanks Navi. This is a good point as I have had seen this before with Eir and hence I would never get Eir connection. The other option for me would be Vodafone, Sky or Pure Telecom. Any thoughts on those?

I am on the same boat, currently on 240mb+tv+phone. €97 euro p/m and Virgin's best offer is €50 off for 9 month. I am cancelling my account (after like 10 years) and will sign something cheaper.

I live in D18 Stepaside area, please let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

Unfortunately it is likely going to be similar with those. The same cabling distance limitations exist if you are getting FTTC (VDSL) which you likely would be. As I said earlier ask some close neighbours if they are happy with the service from any of the above.

They would all be using the same cabling, so would provide a similar service.
