    I do.

It’s my experience that the vast majority of LGBT+ people just want to be treated decently and live quietly in society with the same rights as anyone else.

There are some extreme fringes of course. But extreme fringes don’t need to be indulged.

Using someone’s preferred pronouns is a simple thing we can all do to help people feel comfortable in society. Don’t they deserve this small consideration?

I don’t get why people see a hidden agenda.

Yes of course they do. I'm not disagreeing with you.

Only two of the genders can reproduce. Natural selection and biology suggest that the other genders will be self limiting in number.

Could it not happen spontaneously rather than being inherited?

    Excellent.

So can you agree now that teachers informing kids about preferred pronouns is a good thing? Particularly as some kids don’t have parents as decent as you and I?

Absolutely it can and it’s not true that only 2 genders can reproduce.

Do you want one? I thought we were getting along now and I was happy. I hope it didn’t come off as patronising.

Nonsense. Unless you consider being a decent human being and ideological stance.

So is it not decent to refuse to use pronouns?

It’s not decent to refuse to call someone by their preferred pronouns. Simple manners.

How do you ensure you show manners in this regard?

Upon meeting someone new, must you first enquire as to what their pronouns are ?

    Help me out here

    Omg are you delusional
    Man plus woman equals reproduction
    That's it end of story

Anything else is not natural reproduction therefore wouldn't happen naturally

When you meet them they’ll introduce themselves. Not that we use pronouns when speaking directly to someone, that’s usually simply “you,” or their name. It’s like wondering whether you call your black neighbor African American black or negro dependent on the decade - just call them by their name: Carl, if you need to talk about Carl in the third person just refer to Carl, not he they or the black neighbor. The actual odds of offending someone with an incorrect pronoun is pretty slim and I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Wait to be asked. Again, it’s simple. If someone asks you to use different pronouns then do it. That’s all I’ve said all along.

    Stop making it complicated

but i never address anyone as Mr or Mrs anyway so how am i likely to " misgender" ?

if they introduce themselves as John Smith , i call them John , If they introduce themselves as Ann Murphy , i call them Ann from there on

im trying to gain understanding of this new form of etiquette

You’re grand so. You’ve nothing to worry about. See how easy that is? This is why people shouldn’t get upset about it, because you’re probably already doing the right thing.

    Then you’re not paying attention.

If someone asks to be referred to as a particular pronoun, use it. Polite and decent.

If someone doesn’t, do whatever you want.

My friend who previously identified as she announced to us that they were discovering things about themselves and wished to be called they. So we did. Nothing else changed, still happily married to their husband, etc.

How are you imagining it might happen?

I mean present a sentence of communication between two people so as to illustrate how it might or should go ?

I would not be able to speak as id be too busy trying not to laugh if someone said that to me

that aside , When addressing someone you dont say he or she , you only do that when referring to someone who is absent so presumably its the same for those who want they/them used ?

So unless they tell you otherwise you can address them as you think they've presented themselves?

    Why?

Why have you such an issue with referring to someone non-binary as they/them?

Of course I am and there is no difference
just people with very deep emotional problems
who are lost and regain some control by asserting their individuality by identifying as something else.
