Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I met two. One i met at a function he put in a local thread. He turned out to be a neighbour of mine from years ago. We stayed in contact.
The other I pm'd for a bit. We met and ended up spending the weekend together. Still in contact but haven't met him since.

I know and have met loads of people through Boards in fact met one of them for Dinner earlier in the week while on Holiday in Spain!

I couldn't fault anyone I've met through the site they were all sound...

I know who Srameen is :)

The funny thing is when you don't know the person, but can tell where they're from by their user name! :p

Is the username a reference to the westmeath townland?

    Are you famous?? :D

Nothing to do with a townland or address.

Famous? That's a very subjective term.

Yeah I've met hundreds, went out with one for five years. Many are good friends now.

I wouldn't exactly call what we did "going out".

Or describe us as good friends.

Plus, I'm not hundreds of people.

In fact, I'm starting to think this post wasn't even about me.

Well, today i have learned 2 things.

    1. Srameen is a place in westmeath.

    2. Srameen is not from there.

    :D

I have never knowingly met a boardsie in real life.

Bought some stuff from him years ago before vaping was mainstream.

    Ah here.

I thought all boardsies were neck beards who live in their mom's basement.

Knew a few Boardsies before joining Boards...if that counts?

Myself and L1011 used to serve in the Call Center trenches years ago.

Apparently there's a Srameen Island in Fermanagh as well. In my case it's just an anagram of family initials.

I've met definitely three current boardsie and we know each other, although I don't think we've ever posted in the same threads. There's a couple of others that I know who they are but don't know personally. Again I don't think we've posted in too many of the same threads.

As well as my former colleague posting up-thread, I've worked with at least one other (Gavin Shels).

I went to a few Boards Beers for various subforums back in the old days and my partner posts here occasionally.

I’ve met the following boardsies in real life:

    Lux23
    Gillo
    Makkikomi
    KikiLaRue
    Persepoly
    A Tyrant Named Militades!
    The Master
    Joeytheparrot
    Zipppy

Of these, two are from another Irish web forum - I’ve met them a number of times at meet ups organized through the web forum.

One I have met once and he gave me a tour of his place of work. A complete gent.

One is a an old friend from my college days. Just met up with him a couple of days ago.:)

And a few are boardsies that I met at a recent AH beers meetup.

    ...all sound individuals! :):D

In the winter of snow (2010) when I was stranded in the Bluestack Mountains, a Donegal boardsie who drove a 4 wheel drive came out with gas and coal .. later that year a whole troop of Donegal boardsies arrived with chainsaws to cut logs for me. Made them a good supper!

    Funny enough with Smashey...

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
