IMO sanctions should be put on North African countries such as Libya until they sort out their human trafficking mess and control their borders properly. Human trafficking is big business in these countries it seems and then countries like ours have to bear the brunt of it.

I don't have a problem with the individuals. I have a problem with people who deny that huge figure.

You don't have to wonder. Look at the reports from a few years back about the violent reaction to Zimbabwean migrants in South Africa.

Subtract 20 - 30 thousand for the students if you want.
But technically students are migrants, if they migrate.
As are people with work permits.
Do you only want to count the asylum seekers? And only if they all arrived on the same day?

Just challenging the characterization of calling it a mass migration. Would that be considered a mass migration of students then?

Even RTE uses the word "mass".

By boat and foot, more than a million people arrived in Europe in 2015.
It plunged the EU into a massive political crisis over migration.
Countries argued over how what to do with the mass influx of people.

Most non European students are part of scams to conceal the fact they are working. The red TD Murphy's missus used to advertise for "students" to work ten hour shifts at less than minimum wage.

what is good about this? What have people - including decent hard working eastern Europeans, Chinese and Indians - in north county Dublin done to deserve this?

So if its not a good thing for a neighbouring African state run by the fkn ANC, how is it going to be good for European countries?
