    Terrible defense from Stockdale there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

Two tries given up on first phase.

    I can't even.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Has Stockdale got caught out for all 3 tries now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

    Healy down now.

    Wonderful

Yep. Rushed up each time and left acres of space.

Has Healy just fecked his ankle?

That's the world cup already over if that's the case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Our play with ball in hand is lamentably poor

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭Gidea

Healy looks in pain there :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,569 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

Ah Christ. Healy is being talked to by the medics & in pain.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭jr86

This is a very worrying display

Heading for a right hiding here

Absolutely zero subtlety when get into the England half. relying on kicking and hoping something will just come off

Tuilagi and Vunipola are two of the most effective international players in the world, what players to have

    Looks bad for Healy.

English defence is excellent in fairness.

Why is Best starting Hooker. He can’t do the basics at all.

Ireland to go out at group stages @22/1 is great value

No danger of that, we're too good for any of our pool opponents in attack. At absolute worst we would qualify behind Scotland, but I don't see even that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭Gidea

Well at least he can stand up ..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,644 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

At least he's up on two feet but jesus, that's the last thing we need.

    Healy looks fecked

What’s going on with Best darts.

All his darts have been spot on. Jumpers just not in the right place to collect them.

On for a record hammering here and it looks like Healy is gone now. As an Irish fan I HATE world cup year.

    Big chance for McGrath here.

All it will take is a referee to police the offside line and they’ll be screwed. They’ve identified it as somewhere that isn’t currently watched properly by officials - but when a referee finally decides to referee it then their effectiveness will be seriously dropped

    Pretty poor display out there.

Gutted for Healy. He has been one of the better players out there for Ireland.

For me, Ross Byrne just does not have it for this level. Offers absolutely no threat to the English defence himself so they are just blitzing up outside him and basically ignoring him. He struggles in defence aswell which in fairness is common amongst alot of outhalves but he needs to go away and learn to dive at ankles ala Carbery. He doesn't have the strength to defend up front like sexton.

Outside of his kicks, Bryne hasn't done much to either counter the English rush, or unlock their defense. Sub Rog levels in defense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I don't think Stockdale is wholly responsible for his feck ups. He's missed a few tackles, but it's also part of a wider systems malfunction. We've lost the gain line to England and players inside Stockdale have also misread plays and missed tackles.

Very concerned with how poorly PoM, Stander and Aki are playing.

How can he when we’re getting no go-forward ball?

Not sure if Stander is even on the pitch.

Line out all over the place
    Murray poor
    Stander and POM fairly anonymous
    Stockdale very poor
    Kearney quite shaky

Henderson has been brilliant around the park at least

True but the offside line hasn't been policed properly since the 1990's!

No answer to England’s power game sadly. Back row is MIA.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

No ball carrying threat up front at all
    POM and Stander invisible
    Kleyn offers nothing
    VDF going good
Murray and Byrne a mixed bag
Stockdale exposed by not helped by those inside

Healy walking off which is good sign and no its looking like record defeat at all.

I'd leave Stander at home, he offers so little. Kleyn is a waste of a spot. At this rate, Marmion is looking better as the starter, Murray is a shadow of himself.

I'd be very hopeful Healy will be right in a month.

If it's ankle ligaments and you walk off, from experience 3 weeks to a month should see you right.

England just so much bigger and stronger all over the pitch. We need to start kicking to the corners and just try attack their line outs . We are not going to get through them otherwise and England will run over us

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 702 ✭✭✭Portsalon

Hopefully someone in the Irish setup will gently remind Stander that he's not being paid to watch the game. He has done absolutely nothing of note in that first half.

The big good one beats the good small one everytime. And we're not even a good small one this year.

We're so flattered to only be down by 12.

    Stander hasn't had a single carry. He's absolute ****e.

Woodward claiming Ireland have showed up well.

    Troll.

One out runner after one out runner. There's no subtlety or invention on display at all.

When you pick players who's only instinct is to find contact and hit the ground, this is what you get. We're not going to be able to run over the top teams, we have to be more creative. Joe has not built a team that has shown an ability to do that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 204 ✭✭griffinlee

England hitting the game line running onto the ball and making yards, Ireland passing the ball backwards to someone standing still allowing England to run directly at Ireland and smash them.

That's something that I thought would be coached out of them but it hasnt

Part of that is up to him.
Easy to do it with a dominant Leinster pack in front of him. He has to be able to do when he doesn’t get forward ball. He kicking out of hand was terrible also.

I wouldn’t blame Stockdale got the tries as I felt that a try would have been scored no matter what he did.
We need to turn that English pack more and our attack has to start functioning.

Stander has touched the ball once, and that was to pass it behind Byrne

POM has been anonymous and stander shouldn't be playing 8 imo

I wonder does joe still have paddy Jackson's number.... gonna need it at this rate

Everyone needs a kick up the ass. Only one even trying is hendo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,981 ✭✭✭Naggdefy

Looking at Stephen Ferris, what you'd give for that physicality.

Josh, POM etc are very small, light players at this level.

Yeah got a lucky enough try otherwise would be embarrassing. Everything we do seems pedestrian as no go forward momentum carrying. England have a great lineout and reading our plays. First game in a while so will be errors but hope we can improve second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,880 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

We're a tad rusty alright. Stander and Kleyn have barely been mentioned in commentary. Henderson the pick of the pack.

Don't seem to have an answer to England's power.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I keep telling myself not to get suckered into making judgements in warm up games. But feck me Aki has been one of our most anonymous players since we beat New Zealand.

I'd like to see Toner, Ryan and Henderson at 6.

    Healy Hopfully will be OK.

Byrne doing well at 10 but we're losing the collisions in the forwards.

We need to box smarter and on the basis of this performance I'd nearly rather the all blacks in a quarter. South African pack could punish us.
