Go 2nd hand for that budget. Epson are great. I'd start there. Preferably an Irish buyer so you can see it working before you buy it. Look for 2000 ansi lumens minimum. Anything less will be too dark.

I bought a 2nd hand 720p Optoma for 300 quid 7 years ago which still serves me well. Id like it a little brighter for daytime viewing but hey, budget dictated.

Just make sure the lumens listed are ANSI lumens. Im seeing a lot of cheap Chinese kit flooding the market now with ridiculous claims of x amount of lumens but not adhering to the ANSI standardisation.

Good advice from The Nal there, I think the light output should about 2000 ANSI lumens, missing a zero there !

A mate of mine inherited my Infocus IN76 when I upgraded about 3 years ago - it was on about 3000 hrs on its original lamp leaving me and it’s still running fine for him, movies and gaming. That generation of projectors (Infocus, Epson,Optoma,Benq) should be leading useful lives for very little money, I wouldn’t buy one of the cheap Chinese projectors you see advertised on the usual sites under any circumstances.

    Cheers,

    Ritz
