Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ethernet switch confusion

    So I've had no end of wifi related issues in my house recently and just when I had it all sorted, this happens

    I bought an ethernet switch box to allow me to use the single port in my bedroom to supply my PC and a TP link wifi extender, all was working well until I turned my PC off.

    With my PC off, the extender gets 0.03mbs of download speed, with the PC on its getting 30+ mbs

    anyone know why this is happening?

    Do you have a second TP-Link unit...if so, does it have its network power plugged into anything? Photos please if it exists.
    Where does the other end of that wall patch go?

    A complete guess, you might have created a network loop - those TP-Link units are powerline + wifi access point units. If you just wanted to use them (if you have two) as wifi access points but followed the complete setup instructions it might have also setup the powerline connection between the two units so if the two units are connected by a wired LAN you would get a loop.
    Why would that be disrupted with your PC turned on? Maybe because it creates enough interference on AC near that powerline adapter that the connection nearly drops so the loop is disrupted?

    Thats a complete guess :) maybe answer the first two questions as my guess might be completely off

    On your power supply does when switching pc off knock off the extras as some do to conserve power, eg your printer does not need power when pc is off.
