Recommend New Tv 55 Inch

Hi Guys

Asking on behalf of my brother who is after a new tv.

Requirements:
Aiming for higher end performance and picture
55 inch
Budget is 1500 Eur. Could push to 1500 gbp.
Mostly to be used for gaming so input lag needs to be low.
Good specs on HDR etc.

Thanks for the post.

If its main use is gaming I would perhaps pass on OLED due to image retention. You might not get any issues but with gaming the risk increases greatly.
Screen burn is not covered by warranty as its deemed misuse.

Interesting on the OLED. That Sony quoted is well within budget, was that intentional or are figures incorrect?

There is wriggle room on price so if you had a couple of recommendations at the upper end of price and beyond would be great to allow for comparison.

The 55XF9005 pricing is correct at £999.00, it is a lot of TV for the money. Its due to finish soon as its replacement has already been released.

it's replacement is the 55XG9505 coming in at £1398 or 1599 Euro

One last question Kenny on the oled and image retention.

Are there any guidelines or parameters around what sort of gaming usage/time causes issues.

Like in reality it would only be a couple hours of day max of gaming.

Does this rule out oled completely?

Hi Technofreek.

There are no set guidelines on a safe timescale, nether does any manufacture say not you use an oled for gaming.  As Kenny says you run the risk of any static images becoming permanent on the screen.  OLED have the likes of pixel refresh which will reduce the chances of this happening, but it always a possibility. 

 Also remember that while you may only play the game for a few hours a day, this could be a few hours a day for weeks/months

TV received promptly Wednesday morning and setup. 

Need to play around with the HDR settings a bit more but looks fantastic otherwise.
