Funny enough, the most rabidly aggressive anti-Irish sentiments I've ever been faced with myself were in Wales too. Seems to be a pretty strong North/South split on this type of attitude in Wales though.
Which area is the most anti-Irish ?

I found those in the North of Wales much more anti-Irish.

Purely anecdotal, and certainly not reflective of EVERYONE I met there, just much more prevalent than among those I met in the South.

South Wales would be seen as far more quintessentially Welsh, North Wales more like England

Not saying I've had your experience, I've relatives in North Wales, unlike in Scotland, religion isn't an issue in Wales so if anti Irish sentiment exists, it's a different shade of prejudice
