Spoke to Josie this morning. Definitely an English accent there....

Anyway, now in Borris. Seems a hive of activity, but no sign of the man himself.

There's a nice post-stage interview of her and indeed, she's as British as mustard :). She didn't pick up any blas cainte from Dingle / Daingean Uhúis anyway that's for sure!

But what an awesome rider, regardless of flag allegiences.

dunno, sticks in the craw a bit, maybe just cos it's GB.

obviously the funding and backing in britain is centuries ahead of how it is here.

but, the same way we call Dan Martin, Irish, Josie is now British, and more power to her. Just a shame she couldn't have had success in the green the way we've seen Lara Gillespie and Lydia Boylan, do. If yer good enough, etc....

Imagine what Lydia could have done with the correct support behind her, what Lara could do...
There's enough talent there, but a lot of future's and talent in every sport have been destroyed by poor support/ training and management. Talent is onIy one piece of the pie.

    Anyway this is OT.

Delighted for Josie, I really hope she gets the hatrick today, she deserves the fcuk out of it.

Josie is obviously talented, look at her track results the last 2 years with Team GB and Team Breeze, look she after winning 3 stages this year, so tbh she is more than good enough.

IMO Cycling Ireland need to ask themselves what went wrong and why?

Was speaking to her just before the start and she didn't know how it would go today, but she seemed to be in a little trepidation about the climbing today

Was speaking to her at the jersey presentation and she said she didn't know she was a climber until today

Anyway, I picked up a very nice pink jersey today:

Thanks to Valerie and the team for that fantastic surprise:)

    It ain't pink, it's magenta :-)

The racing was class yesterday and thankfully no major tumbles like stage 2. The weather held out too which was great.

Time trial this morning at 10am and Crit this evening.

Maeve Gallagher absolutely killing it this Rás, and a really hopeful Rás for the future of Irish cycling, with Maeve and Alice Sharpe in the top ten, Lara G in 11th, two of them juniors. Maire Claffey doing savage well in the TT (and all week in fairness).
Josie is only 6 seconds off the win. Really, really hope she does it.

How did Josie Knight lose the lead after three straight stage wins?! I suppose it just shows how close the competition was

Because Steele did the TT faster and I think put 13 seconds into Josie, Josie only had a 7 second lead going into it, no time bonuses given for stage wins,

It was a great race this year. The weather helped, certainly on Saturday night as last year's crit was a washout.

Great to see the composition of the national team. Maeve taking the best Irish rider jersey for the second year running. And Lara finishing top 4 in the final two stages. Bring on Yorkshire!
