I am just wondering if there are any tax reliefs currently available for either potential or existing home owners or first time buyers. Any of the ones listed on the revenue website appear to be all discontinued!

I am aware of the rent a room scheme, and was hoping the HRI was still around, but no luck.

Since January 2017 – first time buyers in Ireland have been able to claim a tax rebate equal to 5% of the value of the new home they are buying. The Help to Buy Scheme or “HTB” Scheme is also being called the “First Time Buyers Grant

Since February 1st 2018 – First Time Buyers in Ireland can also apply for low interest rate mortgages from local authorities – read more here about this Rebuilding Ireland Home Loan.

HTB scheme applys only to new homes.
it might be hard to find a new home priced under 300k.

it might be easier to buy an apartment or 1 bed house, thats 10-20 years old .
banks can only lend 3-3.5 times your annual wage.
And you,ll need 10-20 per cent of the house value, deposit to get a mortgage.
my friend got a council mortgage ,she used it to buy a 1 bed apartment in dublin .

Theres trs tax relief on interest paid on home loan,
for 2019, 2020. but it,will be reduced and phased out after 2020.
