Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Travelling from this end is easy, 20 min drive to the airport car park, 100 meter walk into office to meet others, 150 meter walk to clear immigration and security and climb on bus to door of aircraft, climb onboard and greet crew, get offered an empty first class seat or the bedroom.

Only bit of stress is that my colleague used to shag the flight attendant that we are spending the next 3 days with, but that’s their issue not mine 😀

You know how a frog will hop out of hot water, but will just sit there if they start off in colder water, and then the water gets hotter..

Think I did that in the bath this morning.

Dancing around the place because it is almost ChristmasTime. :)

Coming home for Christmas. Can’t wait to see my mum and dad and mates. \o/

Out of spin and core class. After all the wine I had last night I was close to vomiting, that was before the class even started. The only thing that made me feel somewhat better was luckiest man was there too in even worse condition than me so that cheered me up and motivated me to get through the class so as I could gloat. Bit stressed out as I ordered a dildo as a joke present for a friend from ali express, but it hasn’t come. And now, evidently, neither will she. Going to have to think of another joke present but have no time for shopping

Sitting in the car in the carpark waiting for him to come back when this old lady and who I presumed to be her daughter came out to their car which was next to mine, their back door in line with my wing mirror. Aul one clearly didn’t see me and swung the back door open against my wing mirror and it made an awful sound, and then she proceeds to smack it again the second time. Jumped out of the car and I said excuse me, do you mind not vandalizing my car? And her daughter was like oh I’m so sorry. I like old people, I love old men but old ladies are a law unto themselves. I saw it for years commuting they’d knock you down to get in in front of you, in reality if they calmed down a bit they’d see people would usually let them on the train first. Ruthless they are.

A busy morning with visitors calling to wish us well for Christmas. Cut a load of holly for the house and our visitors all left delighted with some.

Going to light the fire now and read the paper: if the doorbell doesn't ring again...

Base...1, I think. A little bit jaded. Nice but very late night with my fiance last night (or the night before? What day is it,)
Sometime in.tbe early hours of one of the blurry days recently my friend told me about his "expiry date". He knows, for a fact, that hes going to die within about 8 months. He said Im the first person hes told. Its complicated.every time I try to think about it someone walks in and Im distracted. Theres never any time. Im sure every one of you knows all about it. Its the nature of life, too slow and too fast at the same time.
I dont know where Im going or where I am. Listening to Stereo Hearts by gym class heros for the bit about "appreciate every mix tape your friends make ".

    Sorry Widdershins. :(
As I eluded to in my TH post the other day, my mother will die in 2020, possibly early 2020 judging by the state of her recently. The only real advice I can give you, and I'm sure you already know this, is to let him know how much he means to you and give him a hug every time you see him. And if you ever want anyone to talk to I am only ever a PM away.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Thanks Guy. I told him my friends have had an awful habit of dying this year and maybe I've killed him. He laughed. I can never think of the right words, Im sorry. My heart goes out to you.

It sounds like you did say the right thing. Dark humour like that between people who are close in moments of sadness/crisis can be some of the funniest times. It releases tension and bonds people even more I think.

Im in bed having a cry, trying to get it out of the way quickly as hes giving me his time messaging me at the moment. Its a bit heart breaking because hes been trying to leave us all with advice for the future. Very good advice. But he should be looking forward to his future. This is what nicotine is for, pulling yourself together.

I'm doing a vigil with my dog. He's due to be put to sleep on Monday but he slipped into unconsciousness about an hour ago and will probably pass tonight. I know its nothing compared to some of the things some of you are dealing with but I feel absolutely distraught at the thought of him not being here.

Just home after a visit to my dads aunt, his favourite relation. Her son told me she was in a nursing home and that she’d love to see me but didn’t mention anything else. So, off I go with some sweets and some fruit and an Ireland’s own magazine.
By all accounts, she has Alzheimers and didn’t know a bit of me. I told her who I was, “daddy Lexie’s daughter” and she knew my name then but she kept asking me how daddy was and saying she didn’t know when she last saw him, how was he keeping, and was I going home to him for Christmas. I didn’t want to upset her by telling her he was dead. I nodded and agreed. Wish I hadn’t bothered going now, it’s horrible seeing someone like that. Physically she looks fantastic but Jesus.
She knew my name and asked after my brother, and seemed so with it at times but then so lost again. Mind ****.

So sorry to hear this, it’s devastating. They’re part of the family.

I feel for you, I had to put my Lab down last week and it tore me to pieces. I have her ashes beside me on my desk. It is a terrible moment as they are a family member. But I just remember the fun moments and know I gave her a fun and loving home and life.

Highlights the fact that many will have a difficult Christmas, and that they don't need to be told to cheers up or be called Scrooge.

Planning the dinner menus for the next week. I really just want to kick back and not have to visit a shop. Fridge freezer and chest freezer are thankfully full of all kinds. I'm not really a big fan of the consumer side of Christmas. I'm not religious either. It's a great time for kids who believe in Santa. That's finished in our house and I miss it. The down time for those lucky enough to get it is great. But it is the expectation, the illusion and financial pressure on people that can lead to so much despair.

I have absolutely no problem with people out enjoying themselves. However I do see a lot of fake, two faced crap at this time of year. Even within my own family, one particular sibling would make you vomit with the way they go on. They couldn't give a toss about anyone else's circumstances the rest of the year but come Christmas and it's all BS carry on with little donations and "oh the poor families that are homeless". We don't get on because I call it out every year if we meet. Last week the G family did our little bit for a homeless charity Christmas event. But I also offer my professional services throughout the year for free. That's the second and last time I will mention it.

Anyway lads, I'm rambling. As Grem alluded too, I'm also around on Christmas day in particular if anyone wants to post/chat about crappy feelings. I'm lucky. I have all I need materially and mentally for now. Others aren't so lucky and who knows what's around the corner.

I cant get any pm's to send. Id have replied to them if I could. Thanks to the senders :) hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
In the leaba with an empty head, all thoughts emptied out. Theres a creepy and freezing cold fog materialising and solidifying outside. I never close my bedroom curtains but its so eerie I just yanked them shut.

Widders, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, I know it can't be easy but I guess try to make nice memories with him for as long as you can.

Eviltwin, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, at least you won't have to choose to put him down now but still it's not much of a consolation, I hope he passes peacefully. They really are part of the family and it's so hard to lose them.

I'm thinking of all of ye struggling right now and I'm hoping 2020 will be a better year and bring some good things your way. This is my first Christmas on my own since I was 22 and I think it'll be strange, I'll definitely be around to chat if anyone needs to talk as my family will do my head in no doubt :pac:

On the couch, sure where else would I be :P
