Might not be too bad, 2 or 3 cars on fire can emit a lot of smoke.

Yeah hopefully that's all it is and the fire brigade can get it under control...tough condition for them there I'd guess with that smoke.

Hopefully people in the gym got out pronto when the alarm went off also. Wouldn't want to be in there with that thich black smoke.

Would hope the sprinkler systems are working in that car park.
Could be plenty of cars packed in a tight enclosed space which would be a recipe for disaster.
Best of luck to the firefighters there.

I heard all of the sirens going off from the Carrigaline Fire Station about 20-30 mins ago and seen that the City Fire Brigade tweeted about it as well. Hopefully they'll put it out with no injuries to the firemen. Looks very bad.

Sounds very bad, I've seen someone on Twitter say that you can actually hear the cars exploding in the village.

I can't recall if there is a sprinkler system in car park.

    Christ

The heat in such an enclosed space would be insane

Coupled with all of the fuel in the cars and then the added problem if there is any electric cars with their batteries.

I think this fire will be burning all night

Was driving home over the flyover in the east direction and cars ahead of me were suddenly slamming on. Drivers had STOPPED to take pictures. Absolute gowls.

Do you really think this only happens in Ireland?

Well considering that I have only ever driven on Irish roads I'm not going to make a comment on other nationalities.

No need to get your knickers in a twist

There's a video doing the rounds on facebook showing the car on fire on Level 1, no sign of a sprinkler system.

amazing that there's no fire safety system in place beyond fire alarms. I thought modern buildings having sprinklers would be common sense.

Hopefully, although fire can do alot more damage to concrete then people then.

Safety inspectors will have to take core samples and/or tests of every concrete pillar and other structures around where the fire took place before it can reopen possibly.

Major fire in a car park and shopping centre is hardly a slow news day.

Maybe, just thought whats going on in London and Hong Kong would be up there first.

Looks to be a large SUV from the video, an electric did cross my mind as a potential cuplrit earlier.

I'm hoping that considering how fast they contained the fire that damage inside the center itself is minimal. No doubt stocks of food etc will need to be tossed.
