Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, I have been reading this thread for a while and have found it really helpful and informative with regards to what’s going on during this campaign as a lot of it has been unclear until close to the time. I’m in FT GROUP 1. I have completed all the other stages and had a medical booked for within the next week or so however it was cancelled due to the restrictions. Still waiting on vetting though! Anyone else in FT1 waiting on vetting? I got the FT email back in Sept and vetting was sent around mid Oct. Again thanks to you all for keeping this wee dream alive with the constant chat on here it makes it a bit easier knowing we are all waiting for the same thing.

Omg yes I’m FT1 and I’m still waiting on vetting to clear - mine was sent mid October also! It’s been really worrying me because others have passed so quick. I know it can take a while but the wait is horrible especially since others have passed so quick!! My brain has been overthinking big time

Ah that’s good news(ish!) hopefully the wait won’t be for much longer. With restrictions in place & things cancelled I’m hoping they have more time to take a look at the vetting applications.

I expect mine to take sometime due to something on it from years back so I haven’t been in much of a panic but I know someone that got a successful email & they sent their vetting the same time as myself. I really think it’s just luck of the draw! I had an email from vetting to provide something about 2 weeks after it was sent over so I know it has been looked at to some degree. At least with restrictions in place they may, possibly, fire all the vetting out in one lump very soon. Fingers crossed anyway!

Talk on radio today was that we could be living with current restrictions past March and that the executive might extend and then gradually relax after Easter. I wonder if we could be looking at a long wait for PSNI managed stages to start up again or if they will risk assess again and increase mitigations to get the ball rolling for PCAs, Medicals and SMT. I'm sure a case could be made that the managed stages are an essential activity due to the nature of the role. Here's hoping. On the bright side more time to train and work on getting bmi down in my case. Hope everyone waiting on good news gets it soon!

Hi folks, been reading these forums for a while and you’ve all been incredibly helpful with providing info. Awaiting results on Friday and needless to say, extremely nervous! I’ve had shoulder problems in the past (a few dislocations) which will eventually require surgery. However I’ve built this up to nearly full strength with the help of a physio. If I’m fortunate to get through and get to the medical stage, would it be best to have a letter from the physio to state my shoulder is in as good a shape as it can be without surgery? I discussed with the physio previously about this and they believe it should be fine to get through! Appreciate any clarity you folks can give. Best of luck to everyone on Friday!

If you have a condition listed on your MHQ, bring as much supporting evidence as you can. The medical invitation specifically mentions letters from physiotherapists as the sort of supporting evidence you should provide. If they fail you because of your shoulder and you appeal, you'll be needing that letter from your physio in any case, so why not get it up front?

    Good luck for next week!

Shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve been out a good while now but I had a similar issue back when I had my medical. As others have said a letter from your physio stating that you’re fit and that it wouldn’t affect your ability to do the job should suffice.

I had my medical date set for next week, however got the email saying that all PCA and medicals are postponed, does this include those that have already had dates set?

Hi Paulo, it does appear to be the case unfortunately. Alot of people commenting on their pca/medicals being cancelled. Only good news at the minute is the rest of us will find out if our a/c assessment was successful/unsuccessful this Friday. Wont be getting merit order though as the a/c are currently on hold aswell

Been in that position! This will be my third time around, just keep with it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 27 CG97

Didn’t pass either myself, absolutely heart broke to be quite honest. It’s disheartening when you’ve wanted something so bad, and waiting all this time for bad news.

First time applying and I tried. Roll on the next one!!

Congrats to everyone who passed, well deserved.

  • Registered Users Posts: 79 ✭✭Columbo1234

Keep the heads up folks. I think this is my 3rd or 4th attempt and last failed AC in 2015 campaign by 1 mark. Regroup and come back stronger I think there will be a need for another campaign very soon and you’ll have all the experience of this time around. If you want it you will get there! Good luck to all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 87 ✭✭walkman2302

I passed, congrats to all those who passed. Keep the chins up if you failed, Just remember you have now gained valuable experience on what to expect the next time recruitment opens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 felix1305

Any thoughts on when next recruitment could be?

  • Registered Users Posts: 66 ✭✭Mcfluffers

Passed, first time attending the assessment centre.

To the people who unfortunately failed, keep your chins up, you’ll know exactly what to expect the next time!

I got through to the final interview twice for the fire service and was absolutely devastated both times so I know exactly what you all are going through!

Passed, really thought I wouldn't get this email, now just to wait on the merit list position 😠hard luck to those that didn't get this far this time and congratulations to all that did .

Hello, long time lurker here. I just got the good news that I passed. I was worried when I didn't get fast-tracked, and kept having to remind myself that most people who passed haven't been and I didn't just mess up. I'm sorry to hear from all the users on here who didn't get the result they were hoping for, to wait for so long only to get bad news is harsh.

I have a question: I understand that we are still waiting on some people to do their ACs before the merit list gets passed on. Does that mean that we will not be able to conduct any further parts of the recruitment process such as vetting until this happens? From lurking the previous campaigns vetting seemed to have been a bottleneck for a lot of recruits, making them wait for months after completing everything else. It would make sense to kick off our vetting processes asap, and get them out of the way even if we do not yet have a merit list.

This is a good question and the answer is not clear. Previously, it seems that vetting was conducted roughly in line with the merit list. Additionally, the results email says that details haven't yet been passed to the PSNI, which would suggest vetting isn't going ahead.

However, these are not ordinary times so maybe some details will be passed along with higher scorers getting their vetting papers?

You could always email Deloitte and ask for clarification because I'm sure there's a bunch of people here who would like to know.

I contacted psni and they have said they are hoping to recruit again in autumn. So some postive news

Hi folks, wee question, this may be for people who have already started in the role or know someone who is in the job already. I was wondering about shifts? Not asking about times as I know we arent allowed to but more around how many days in a row do we typically work then how many rest days would you get? Also wondering if it is that common that your rest days are cancelled and you are told that you must work on rest days? I know there will be elements of this and of overtime but was just wondering how common this would be in terms of trying to make plans etc? thanks

Hi all, first time posting. I’m in FT group 1 and I got the rescheduled medical invite today. Was originally supposed to have it this month but it was cancelled along with everything else. Just thought it would be good to let others know that they’re obviously trying to progress with things despite lockdown and it looks as though they’ve got the ball rolling on some things at least :)

Merit pools in the last two recruitment campaigns have been just over 1050.

Thank Goodness, I passed - 3rd time OST and 1st timer A/C. I am so sorry to hear that some of you guys (Yukuza2008, Boneyard2002, Si_zx10r etc) didn't make the cut off - you all guys have been amazing, irrespecutful of the results. Please keep up the chin and don't give up, just keep trying. Best of luck for the future! Xx

    Hi guys,

First time writing here, just got word through that I passed the AC so very happy about that condolences to any that failed this time, hopefully everything goes your way the next recruitment.

Just wondering about vetting, I know they check your financial situation. About four or five year ago I stupidly defaulted on a payment whilst young, stupid and in uni. Since then however I haven't missed a payment on anything, have successfully managed a credit card, held down a good job for multiple years etc and the debt have been settled for many years. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and will that go against me or will I be able to show that this was when I was younger and haven't done anything like this since.

Thanks if you get back to me!

I had a defaulted payment too - same situation as you, young and in love with spending - slightly longer timescale (8 years), and passed vetting fine. Doubt it will cause you any problems.

    Congrats on passing your AC.

Brilliant guys, that has made me feel a lot better about it thanks, as I said I have never had any CCJs etc just the one default in university which I have learnt a lesson from.

Thanks again and best of luck in the rest of the process.

I wonder when the remaining ACs will get up and running, I presume it will be March 8th when restrictions are perhaps relaxed?

Bear with me I'm not long on this forum, what does SC and DV mean?

Security Check Vetting and Developed Vetting.

Broadly speaking, SC is what you get from passing PSNI vetting, it gives you access to secret info and supervised access to top secret.

DV is the next level up, required for senior PSNI posts and certain work areas - intelligence etc. Gives you unsupervised access to top secret stuff. It's a lot more thorough and exhaustive.

SC is where you tell them the things they don't know about you. DV is where they tell you things you don't know about you.

Congrats to all that passed! If you didn’t get through keep the head up and try again! I did. You’ll get there!

Heads up for the vetting. Be completely transparent. If you try to hide anything they will Chuck you straight out. Integrity.

Yeah i contacted the psni directly and that is what they have said. Obviously Covid and other delays can occur but if all goes to plan i would imagine a campaign advertised sep-oct which would be great news .
