Bringing kids to New York

Hi Thinking of changing the holidays next year from beach to city break and hopefully bringing the kids has anyone any experience with kids in New York? They will be 13 and 10 and both would like museums and the likes .. we have been as a couple a few times and enjoyed it. Any advice where best to stay ?
