Didn't he play main stage before? I'd certainly take London Grammar. The Friday night combination or the and the XX from a couple of years ago was magical

Skepta has, but I'm pretty sure Stormzy hasn't. And after Glasto there's only one slot he'll take at any festival.

    Thats a nice Lowlands lineup.

Stormzy has serious energy, I think he'd make a great headliner.
Hes on the go 5-6 years now, although that seems short it must feel like FOREVER if you're early twenties.

2 pages of activity in one day! The faint aroma of an approaching announcement is in the air and the Boardsie heavyweights rouse themselves from hibernation.

The gates of R'lyeh are cast open as something ancient and not quite alive crawls toward the light. Unknown for twelve thousand years, the dark lord Cthulhus unseen form expands as he grows closer and the screams of the souls of the damned echo in every footstep he takes. As his hellish slithering maw opens, moistened by the greased sins of the foresaken, a foetid breath escapes, poisoning the world with its passing as he whispers “kings of Leon? Not on my f**king watch!”

I've just noticed Hak Baker is playing Whelan's in March, upstairs, sold out of course. That's a fecker. He was brilliant in 2018 in one of the tents, Cosby? Played Body and Soul later the same day. Infectious good humour, some great lyrics.

Scruff Monkey's Tales From Lovecraft runs daily across Picnic Weekend in Mindfield, if you can find him before he finds you...

He was great. Went to both of those and got a shot of rum from him at the B&S stage.

Wickham Festival in early August has a few goodies:

Waterboys, Seth Lakeman, Nine Below Zero and Nick Lowe would be very welcome. More than a decade since Scott and Co were there. Overdue a return I'd say.

Orbital, Laurent Garnier, Helena Hauff and a cast of many to play AVA Festival, Belfast for those interested in various shades of doof.

    End of May.

Leo Sayer! Too old for Electric Ireland? The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican I'd sign up on name alone.

Went to both of those and he really is a happy man, writes about some dark stuff but his gigs are great, going to be away when he's here or else I'd probably have headed up.

Some of these may end up at the AVA stage at ATN, apart from Orbital of course as they played last year.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Would love to see Helena Hauff take the roof of Terminus in the Amelie Lens slot.

Been wanting to see Big Thief for 3 or 4 years now, Irish dates never suited to travel. Might just buy a ticket for this, and if they play EP...double bonus! Would be a hectic week!

They're playing england after - would seem unlikely that they'll come back

I'd say a near certainty. Same as Stormzy.

The dates are simply too coincidental.

It's End of the Road, with which EP share several acts each year. I'd say the chances are still very high. 2019 was Micheal Kiwanuka, Courtney Barnett, Bodega, Viagra Boys, Parquet Courts, Sasami, Mitski, Metronomy, Jarvis Cocker, Let's Eat Grandma and Georgia. Maybe more.

the gig is with Aiken, very unlikely they'll be at EP.

I see the Wha are supporting Supergrass in Dublin.

Was it someone on here who knows them/recommended them? Might have been the ATN thread.

i'm sure it will sellout so you could always shift it on toutless, that's my plan

Tash sultana is touring Europe and has a free date on the 4th of September, which would be the friday night, could we be in for a treat like her?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,022 ✭✭✭lc180

Rock En Seine in Paris (weekend before EP, 40k capacity ) are doing their first announcement on Monday. Strangely enough this year they changed their festival to Saturday, Sunday and TUESDAY. With a day off inbetween.
Must be a pretty impressive headliner on the Tuesday if they are willing to change the overall schedule of the festival.

I haven't seen the Busher around in a while. He was talking about it maybe being his last picnic last year. I hope we haven't lost him.
