I had half forgotten how bad the old signs were and in fairness we have come a long way since then. Heres an RTE article with calls for better signage and some examples of really bad ones (including Fota park not having any at all, nor being allowed to put up their own!)…

It still is bad in some areas, especially Dublin City! Some of the directional sign positing is atrocious and outdated.

Never mind the signs the roads themselves were equally atrocious.
