The shape of Villante! Fuppin hell

Yeah Hooker was great in the first two but faded badly afterwards, wasn't even really competitive in R4 or R5. Paul Felder is no Poirier obviously but that fight played out similarly, Hooker came close to losing that one as well.

    Good fight though.

Absolutely loved the fight. Hadn’t seen them at that level before, didn’t know poirier had such power in his punch,

If McGregor cut to that weight what are your thoughts of his chances if they fought as good as they did?

    McGregor makes 155 easily imo.

Hooker's is a brawler and is hittable. I think McGregor knocks him out in 2 rounds.

Dustin is much more experienced at that level. If he can avoid getting sucked in again, I could see him taking it close over the distance. But if it went exactly like the last, I wouldn't be shocked either.

While both were warriors and the blows was like a scripted rocky film. If it was in black and white with a bit of classical music it could have rivalled Raging Bull. However both left themselves wide open while moving forward and that is where McGregor could capitalise.

One thing that amazed me was how poirier couldn’t force a submission from some of the holds he had. I think I said at least 3 times it’s over and at one stage i thought hookers arm was going to snap. Fair play to hooker for getting out but you really should be finishing there in my very limited opinion.

One thing both showed was that they had solid chins. While some wobbles neither were close to being stopped or KO even after repeated blows. Saying that poirier admitted that it was lights out for a few seconds.

One thing that i wonder will we see more of is wives or girlfriends acting like a spare tool in the corner between rounds. Tapping an ice pack on the back of their fighter or fumbling for a water bottle. But it does save money.

As well as winning the fight Poirier also won best walk in song. What a legend walking in to a bit of James Brown.

Just watched this, what a banger of a fight.

Porier has grown into one of my favourite fighters of all time. He's guarunteed entertainment. Swangin' and bangin' all day long. His boxing is a joy to watch and he's really one of the sports' good guys.

Hope he builds towards another Khabib fight.

I'd like to see it but he's still too slow and hittable for McGregor.

Watching the main event again tonight.

Hooker takes a close first round. Then really laid in on in the second. Was landing at will for last 10-15.

Dustin taking the striking advantage so far in the third. Some heavy shots.
Hooker tries to bail with a takedown and ends fending off multiple sub attempt. Dustin finishes on the feet strong.

29-28 Hooker going into the championship rounds. Dustin is a 3/2 underdog on Vegas sportsbook.

Good time to get money on

never even thought of looking at the odds but did wonder, it did look
good for poirier after round three

The one thing that surprised me a little was poirier not going for the body more

I think he'd have got a finish if he had

There'd be very few fighters capable of bettering hooker over 3 and over the first two rounds he's as good as they come
He really surprised me at how much quicker he was over poirier which is something you don't see much. I do recall dustin struggling badly with michael johnsons hand
    speed too

Yeah, as good as Poirier did in that fight his weaknesses were exposed. He has no defense on his feet, a real big hitter will always have an advantage if he can stay on his feet.

I never noticed originally, but seen it when watching back. Vegas odds came up after round 3. Poirier was +150 going into the 4th. I know he had to win two rounds from two and hindsight is great. But he does it at least half the time with Hooker blowing hard at that point.

I really like this main card later especially kattar v Ige

alhassan v lazzez what a ufc debut for lazzez again a guy
who tries to take your head off with every swing

alhassan record for a ww is phenomenal too, 10 wins all by ko in the first round, don't recall seeing that before
his opponent then has 8 kos from 9 wins, watched a few of his fights and based on that I think he's really up against it

I'd love to see him climb the ranking and fight someone like nate diaz some day, think he'll be a top ten guy before long though yet after beating
niko price in one round I did think he might get a top ten guy (geoff neal springs to mind)

rivera stamaan another I'm looking forward to

Jackson could have got the finish there if he managed to posture up and get a few more elbows in.

Would like John to win myself,

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,855 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

I've no idea who won that

    Maybe Johns possible split even

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,735 ✭✭✭ASOT

I'd give johns 2&3 but a draw or Jackson win wouldn't be far off either it was that close.

Phillips has really disappointed over his last few fights. He just can not deal with the wrestling. Tough as hell to take what he does, but he just wants to stand and bang. They need to match him up with someone similar so as we all get to see fireworks.

    Ah that’s disappointing.

That's a catastrophic loss for Duffy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,735 ✭✭✭ASOT

Very silly shooting on him there, with the height and reach was a big risk.

Duffy caught in a guillotine there. All seemed a bit too easy.

3 losses in a row for Duffy. Not good.
