Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Advice on getting work experience

So I managed to pass the 2nd year exams at Accounting Tech Ireland last May, and am trying to now obtain my 2 years work experience for the diploma. But I have no previous experience within any payroll or office environment (used to work as a chef so not much cross-over).

I have tried to find any job openings with no prior exp needed but as you can imagine pickings range from slim to nothing. Sent of CVs to firms my family have connections with but they are either just small regional offices with little in the way of ground level openings (IFAC) or still have to hear back from.

Have figured my best bet is to start cold calling accountancy practices (which I have never been good at) and need some advice on who I should be aiming to contact within the firm, best means for contact, are there official channels they would offer experience through?

When I was in a similar situation during the recession I wrote a cover letter and sent that with a copy of my c.v. to every practise within 20 km of my house.

Got lots of replies and some forwarded it to other colleagues worth a shot
