Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Game over.

I really hate the Swiss, our biggest bogey team ever.

Need some creativity so get O'Dowda on. Not sure I can take both McClean and Judge firing crosses out of play.

More luck to them. We are pretty dire

Hendrick just stopped and let him run

Hard to see where we will get the points to get to the euros now. A draw would have been **** all use anyway.

Looking at some of the players here you'd wonder who they go back to playing for their respective clubs and actually have to play some football. We've been hanging on from the first minute.

Most of our players are accidents waiting to happen, let's be honest.

Poor, but ireland have offered nothing this half to warrant anything from this game. Need to have a go now.

Have we had a shot on target?

    Glen whelan.

Actually Hendrick was following him and then just let him go into box so easily.

Good shout for a penalty there. Hendrick was definately nudged in the back

Its starting to hit home now. Trap, oneil and mccarthy.

The players we have are not good enough.

You are fighting a losing battle there. He's obsessed.

If you were having dinner with this team and you asked them to pass the salt, the salt would end up out the window.

To be fair if they were any good they'd be 4-0 up against this Irish side.

Ultimately this has been a poor game notable for terrible wasted opportunities on both sides.

The less crap side are going to win, not much to celebrate if you're a Swiss fan.

    Glazers Out!

we haven't had a striker in years, none to bring on.

But we are chasing a goal. Why would you remove an attacking player instead of a defensive one?

It's pretty sad when according to the commentary our only hope of scoring seems to rest with a centre back.

George Hamilton is 69 how has he not been forced to retired by RTE since it is a State funded company and the retirement age for state employees is 65?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Why is he taking off Hourihane?!

I would have thought it was hit home by the fact that McClean seems to be the first name on the team-sheet despite not actually been able to control a football. But he runs around a bit so its all good.

Whelan should have had a shot there just f...ing try it.

    Hogan on.

So still no merit in Long being part of the squad.

    I call bollix on this.

Irish football simply hasn't evolved. Every side no matter what their level comes to Dublin and largely dominates possession.

We know nothing other than getting to the byline and a hit and hope cross which has about single figure success rate. It's nothing but a waste of possession.

Standards are just so low. Beglin was carrying on if we had seen something equivalent to 1970s Brazil when the Swiss scored.. it was a couple of handy one twos against stationary Irish traffic cones.. yet such a bit of basic forward passing in the middle is so far beyond is it's depressing.

Crossing as your only form of attack is from the nineties.
