Very excited for tonight's game with a lot of promising players on show.

Troy Parrott and Gavin Kilkenny make their first starts for the u21s.

I like that Connolly and Idah are involved too. Celtic's new signing Lee O'Connor also in the starting XI.

    Hopefully a nice win tonight.

Molumby has started well. Some decent half-chances so far.

Good pace shown by Connolly down the left and ball into Idah into box but he doesn't connect with it properly.

Connolly is causing them a lot of problems.

    Parrott scores!

Lovely assist from Connolly. Well deserved lead.

Connolly very impressive so far, he is really giving his opponent a tough time. Wonder would there be any chance of any of these players being called into the senior squad for Tuesday considering McGoldrick and Robinson both pulled out injured today.

Connolly's been very dangerous. McCarthy and his staff are in attendance and I wouldn't be surprised if later tonight they are discussing amongst themselves a senior call-up for him.

A few of them could be in the frame. Dont forget that Obafemi is also missing.

This is a great side. Should be 2/3 up. Lovely to watch

I'd like to see himself , Coventry amd Parrott given game time. Why the hell not.

Does it bode well for them being a few years older and SK at the helm of a new, younger RoI senior team?

I think so. Kenny will need to be given time though to bring these on once senior manager. Even at 22-23 they will still be very raw. Hopefully SK will be given the time and space.

Half-Time and we lead 1-0. Very positive 45. Here's the goal for those who missed it:

Connolly has been great running at them on the left flank. Always looks capable of doing something. I thought Parrott was pretty quiet in the early stages but he got his goal. Molumby has been great in midfield with his strength, passing and tackling. Really like the look of him. Kilkenny has had nice moments on the right hand side too and put in an inviting cross at one stage.

Very enjoyable watch. Just need that second goal to hopefully make sure of the result.

Very good goal. Opposition might not be great but all the lads can do is play whats in front of them. Very encouraging.

Unlucky Parrott. Almost a second but hits the post.

Keep forgetting this lot are extremely young for u21s even. Most have a few years left at the age group although s fair few will progress quicker than that

    How is this 1-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,603 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

Could have won by more, Parrott probably should have had a second goal when he hit the post. Molumby and Connolly pobably the two best performers on the night but everyone played well and they looked comfortable on the ball. It will be interesting to see how they get on against stronger opposition next week.

Full-Time and it ends 1-0. Very nice performance, particularly in the first half. Molumby got MOTM with an impressive showing in midfield where he dominated. Connolly would have been a fair choice for that too as he menaced Armenia down that left flank. Parrott was pretty quiet but still could have had a hat-trick which shows his potential. The defence and keeper were solid.

A visit to Sweden up next on Tuesday. Hopefully we can get something out there.
