Same here I was just about to post it too.
    How long is it gone.
I came out to the room about half an hour ago and thought someone had muted the TV.
Is it just Sky or is it everywhere?
If it is gone everywhere are RTE that stupid that they haven't realised yet?
Not that we're really missing anything anyway.

Went right at the start of the Camogie final on RTE2, working on the non HD channel 802, but not as much as an acknowledgement or apology from RTE.

They went after the bins and water coolers last time. Is audio the casualty in this round of cutbacks?

    Good question.

Apparently research shows that people who pay for Sky, on average spend more time looking at free channels such as BBC, than pay channels. So it is possible that many of them also have aerials, but out of habit watch RTE on Sky. They might switch over to the aerial to see if the problem exists there as well.

Before they put up the banner about the audio problem, the banner was a code red weather warning for tomorrow!!! (there isn't any such warning out). Have a look at RTE2+1 between 6pm and 6.05 to see of it shows up again.

Will it be mentioned on the news, I wonder

Probably human error. Like the French playing the wrong national anthem before the Albania game.

On Radio 4 this morning they were discussing a plan for nationwide UK text alerts to be issued, in connection with any serious outfall from Brexit, such as shortage of medicines. Based on a system which exists in the USA for natural disasters etc.

The downside was pointed out from what happened in Hawaii, a while back. Some human being sent an alert saying there were nuclear missiles incoming, causing major panic. Mistakes happen.

The sound issue was with Sky is my understanding.

Its all over twitter with RTE apologising to sky viewers but no apology for ruining SAORVIEW viewers enjoyment. And that banner was totally naff.

    RTE should be ashamed.

What caused the problem in the first place?
