I bought that about two or three weeks ago, I have only spent about 20 minutes playing it, but I am pretty confident I like it. I think I needed to be alone to start it and relaxing and following the tutorial

The bonus content is excellent, Japanese versions of pretty much all the games, which includes additional content not available in the EU/US versions.

IIRC there are around 16 games in each collection if you include all the versions.

Castlevania would be deeper quest-like games with action elements in them.

Contract is primarily an arcade shooter.

At the price I'd say get both as they are essential for any Nintendo gamer. It's akin to never playing a Mario game

Contra are tough-as-nails sidescrolling shooters. And that's not a joke, they're comparable to Megaman for their "nope, f*** you, try again" difficulty - very much on the "you need to know your way through the level" end of the spectrum, there's no way you're getting through a level on your first go.

Castlevania are most easily compared to 2D Metroid, which hopefully gives you a good idea of what to expect. Lots of exploring a map, unlocking power upgrades and backtracking to go and see what is in that previously inaccessible area, etc.

Based on my recent disappointment with the Sega Mega Drive Classics, I'm not sure I personally would spend a lot of time with either collection. But of the two, I'd probably go for Castlevania - I recall I used to find the Contra titles frustratingly tough back in the day, and I have less time & patience for games that require me to repeat levels countless times until I get them just right. OTOH if you want a tough-as-nails and challenging old-school shooter, Contra's yer man.

It's definitely a nostalgia trip, but I never played the SNES game and I found Super Castlevania IV fantastic.

In fact it's regarded as one of the best SNES games and still holds up today

Hong Kong shows as ~€32.50 on Eshop-Prices, but most of the European stores have it at €40.

I'll have a look now. I'm in no rush as I'm playing through it on PC for the first time but wouldn't mind getting some handheld play.

Dark Souls is possibly one of the most satisfying games made in the last decade, certainly one of the best games of all time.
And the standard of the Switch port is incredible.
It's a game a player will live with and master over years, not to mention play through and keep finding something new.
€40 is pretty okay money for it, imho

I've only played about 20 mins of the first one and I'm enjoying it so far. Don't think it'll have oceans of depth but there's enough of them to make up for that and the newer games might have more to them. Never played them before.

All Star Fruit Racing is 99c (down from €20).

Obviously no rival to MK, but seems to have reviewed around 6 or 7 out of 10 and it looks like it's a good one for kids. Split screen and online co-op too.
