Media reported that the file on this case is now so thick it is over a metre high Theres lots of effort being put in now by police both sides of the border, it just a shame someone had to be tortured and almost killed before they acted. The omerta that exists doesnt help either, people know stuff but are too afraid to talk.

Anyway these latest arrests must be spooking the paymaster. Its a lot of people they are hoping wont confess or take a deal being offered to implicate who is behind it.
stay living in la la land.

Why is one of the accused not having their name publicised?
Its not a sex crime. Is someone hiding something?

Surely they only need to be charged with the crime for their name to be in the public domain?

One of them, I believe is already charged in connection to a different crime.
His name is not being released to protect that prosecution.

Not if a judge directs that they can't be named for some legal reason.

Thanks for that. I can see the point there although it looks like the trial will be in the Special Criminal Court so its not that theres a jury there to be influenced.

I don't know what the first charge was for, but I would imagine it's to keep that prosecution safe. It's probably due to be before a jury

its the other case which will be in front of a jury that might be influenced by his naming in the Quinn case.

So the Gardai accidentally burnt the car in which evidence was found in the Kevin Lunney case.
Almost as bad as the Gardai losing the farm gate in the Sophie du Plantier case.

Similar to something you might hear going on in some South American backward state.

It's very strange. Reflects very bad on the gardai and justice

If those things happened in "some South American backward state" you could be sure it was deliberate.

I know the Gardai attract the thickest of the thick..but thick enough to burn an evidence vehicle and lose a 20 foot gate

    Thick enough? Maybe not

    Corrupt enough? Maybe yes.

Can’t imagine a South American state backward enough for this to happen!!

Something smells alright, and it ain't just smoke...

If you're interested in other smelly stuff in Irish criminal justice it's also worth looking at why one Patrick Hutch was let walk free from court despite being photographed fleeing a murder scene with a gun in hand, and probably worth looking at who Jim Mansfield Snr. was buddies with and why his 'import business' was allowed to operate.

How exactly do you accidentally burn a car?

Should be the first question the presiding judge asks.

Quite easily - let's say you've got a jerrycan of petrol that you're planning to bring home for your lawnmower, and you have some barbecue firelighters for a bit of a grill later on after you've cut the grass, and you're having a cheeky smoke... You drop the petrol, it spills everywhere, then while trying to pick up the jerrycan you accidentally drop your firelighters, and then the fag falls out of your mouth as you open it in shock, then 'poof'! Up she goes. Total accident.

So is there anything approaching information on any of this? Where did the car burning story come from? Surely a link with your post wouldnt go astray.

Especially if the accused are threatening to tell all about who is behind them, and if that person is high profile and a relation of someone who had a high profile in a major sporting organization and has sympathy within an extended community including some members of the supposed police force at least one of whom may be prepared to do something like the above in return for an extension to his house or a nice holiday

Not forgetting losing or donating all their work phones during an investigation into their behaviour towards whistle blowers.
I thought Harris was to be running a competent and clean shop?
Likely anything of use would have been discovered by now? Or maybe lost....

Perhaps it’s time to defund the Gardai.... this stinks to high heaven

Maybe the community sympathy is based on what the community know went down? Or know the true story?

Sean Quinn, a very wealthy man decided he wanted more money so bought loads of shares in Anglo which unfortunately collapsed leaving Sean billions in debt. His companies got taken over and sold to pay his debts. Everyone is now paying an insurance levy because of Sean. New owners decided to give Sean a job but Sean wanted all his companies back so they parted company. Since then there has been a campaign of intimidation carried out by people whose only motive is to get Sean back in control. Who is behind this campaign?, who stands to gain from it?. Is that what went down??? The car burning stinks, if Drew Harris doesn't immediately investigate it will look very bad.
