Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Full Metal Jacket. Two great movies in one.
And it highlights the absurdity of war rather than glorifying it.

Full Metal Jacket - A really tough decision , but that female sniper and sucky sucky five dollar. Crass decision making , but iconic dialogue. Never mind chewing rifles in the shower, after bed time.

Full Metal Jacket proves A Bridge Too Far for... well... eh... A Bridge Too Far. 7-3 the score. I'll probably stop with the puns now :o

And that completes our quarter final line up!

Colin Farrell Colin Farrell ... Corporal Hancock

    Did not happen surely?

In no particular order, your quarter finalists:

    1. Saving Private Ryan
    2. The Hurt Locker
    3. The Great Escape
    4. Hacksaw Ridge
    5. Schindler's List
    6. Full Metal Jacket
    7. Good Morning, Vietnam
    8. Inglorious Basterds

Quick smoke and I'll be back with the first QF.

This time it'll be first to 8 votes and I want a proper reason - 'cos Ireland won' won't be credited for example. Something about the film you're choosing tends to work :P

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Ok let's get this place rocking for the QFs!!

Ok now this gets hard. As will be evident with this match up:

    The Great Escape

    VS

    Schindler's List

First to 8 votes will progress to the final 4. And don't forget those reasons - these are your quarter finalists people show them some respect - or bury the opposition, whichever works ;)

The Great Escape - more iconic and an all over easier watch if I am honest, oh yeh and because it is basically nationalist propaganda for the far right movement in the UK.

    The great Escape.

2 entirely different WW2 "camp" films, and it really hurts to vote against Schindler's List, but memory's of watching this film on a Saturday night as a kid, waiting for the Motorbike chase:)
