Empire of the Sun, I was a kid watching this and dreamt of the experiences that were portrayed as if I was playing them.

    Empire of the Sun

I was also a kid be can't remember it in great detail but I was bowled over by it

MASH was better as a TV series

What happened to lunch break you bastards???
Abstaining on this one because I didn't enjoy either and I don't think you'll let me vote for Aliens.

    I prefer Mash

It gets my vote. More humour. And Kid Bale was kinda weird.

Empire. I loved MASH tv series but didn’t like the movie at all.

What's the story with Rambo , he's moved onto the Mexicans now and not the Asians?

    Rambo doesn't discriminate.

    Mash.

    Great cast. Great Humor.

Didn't like Empire of the sun.

I can't vote for either. I remember watching MASH the odd time on TV as a child. Didn't get it at all which isn't hugely surprising.

    Basterds. A great movie.

    Meh vs Meh.
    Who will win?
    Meh....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

    Inglorious Basterds for me.

Love Christopher Waltz in it, some incredibly tense scenes, class dialogue and it was one of my picks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,012 ✭✭✭✭banie01

I'm going to have to vote for Inglorious Bastards!

The humour, the viciousness and the story all tie together so well.

Tora, Tora, Tora could have been great!
Should have been the US Battle of Britain but so much of it particularly flight sequences were let down by lack of ambition IMO.

    Inglorious

Inglorious Basterds, One ive my suggestions so I'm going for that.

    Tora Tora Tora.

Liked Basterds, but some of the made up "facts" made for a strange film if you're into your WW2 stuff.

4-1 to the Basterds so far.

Hoboo I need a reason for your vote to stick

    Tora! Tora! Tora!
Japanese perspective was filmed by a Japanese crew
American perspective was filmed by an American one

    Very historically accurate.

    Inglorious Bastards here.
    Funny, gruesome and nicely fictional.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,320 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

Christopher Waltz's performance gives it Inglorious for me.

Seen neither so out of this one.

    Das Boot!

Incredible film, Prochnow gave a tour de force performance and its one of the 1st films that humanised the Germans IMO.
The fear and claustrophobia of the depth charge scenes were incredible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,579 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Has to be das Boot

Dr Strangelove really isn't that good, at the very least it's dated badly for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,592 ✭✭✭Hoboo

Haven't seen them so no vote here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭Remouad

    Das boot
    Claustrophobic thriller.
Makes you see the crew as people instead of Nazis.

Best watched in the original german.

Dr Strangelove is a classic. Gets my vote

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,208 ✭✭✭scotchy

Another tough call, but its Das Boot for me.

Always enjoy WW2 films from a German perspective. but this was a Class Film, And the TV series even better. tried watching the recent remake but it didn't compare to the original.

    Das Boot.

Similar to why I like THFRO, the tension of the confined space where death is so close constantly is so compelling.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,089 ✭✭✭Krombopulos Michael

Das Boot. Fantastic movie and showed the real cramped conditions they lived in

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,313 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Das Boot gets their missiles away before Strangelove can drop the A-Bomb. 5-1 winners

T2 is the best film there but it's not a war film
