Im going The Dirty Dozen. Watching them fight among themselves then slowly band together was great, although Telly Savalas won it for me with his psychotic role as maggot.

Thin Red Line has some great battle scenes in it but a little too "oh look at my cinematography" about it

Iron sky was ridiculous but funny.

    Dirty Dozen
Lee Marvin, Telly Savalas and Charles Bronson in the same movie and at the top of their game.
    Great Premise.

Terminator 2: Judgement day - Instant classic and excellent wartime strategy by the machines to try to take out the enemys greatest solidier before he was born, but i doing so that, force the ristance to send back that same mans father. brilliant stuff.

God it was tedious in places. A good edit could make it amazing, but the version released was too much

Terminator 2 is not a war movie but it gets my vote

    Doctor Zhivago.

Never really thought of it as a war film, but a great David Lean movie with a great cast. always had a thing for Julie Christie;).

The chase scenes, the villain, the lines are all epic. And Sarah Connor in the mental hospital is bad ass.

    T2 please, unbelievable sequel

Dirty dozen is an awful film

Terminator 2 takes it with Murdoc's reason given

Beautiful movie in places. Pretentious otherwise. But I love the views of that hill the shadows of clouds moving over the wind-blown grass creating waves of sun and shade. I can almost feel the wind on my face when I watch it.

The bunker assault was very well done too.

Were there any votes for Twelve O'Clock High, by the way?

Next up- Ed Harris, Nic Cage and Sean Connery were popular with some voters earlier... surely when they collaborate it's a no brainer... :pac::pac:

For this alone your future votes should be disallowed!

    Look.

T2 Shouldn't have won. It's not really a war movie.

    BUT

At least let some good come from this. If you're not sen Iron Sky, then please go watch it. Its great. So so great.

And there's my reason for voting The Rock.

It's pure guilty pleasure. The best of Michael Bay with only some of the worst of Michael Bay.

    The Dam busters
    Because it's epic.

And because The Rock is not a war movie.

Dam Busters, if only for the theme music which is an all time classic.

    Dam Busters

The Rock is amazing but it is not war film!

Based on real events, Dam Buster's for me. Special effects for the time as well.

The Rock as I liked the car chase with the Ferrari

    Kid On Motorcycle:
Dude, you just f***ed up your Ferrari.

    Stanley Goodspeed:
    It's not mine.

    Stanley Goodspeed:
And neither is this. *steals motorcycle*

    Dam Busters

The Rock is amazing but it is not war film!

    Nice coordination :p

    Who nominated these??

The Rock, for Ed Harris playing a great villain.

The Rock actually doesn't even have a hint of it being a war movie. Terminator 2 does have a war between humans and machines looming in the background so there is a tenuous link.

Dam busters. Rock is a great movie but where's the war?

    The Dam Busters.

Rainy Sunday afternoon black and white classic with great theme tune.

The Rock isn't even a war film.

Dam Busters as its a war movie.

The rock isn't a war movie, theres just some soldiers in it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,313 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

The Dam Busters break out of The Rock just in time. 5-4. Tight battle though

Next up and another... I'm gonna say intriguing fantasy VS reality battle

    The Hurt Locker

    The Dam busters,

While the rock is a good war movie, dam busters while not really a war movie is enjoyable to watch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,089 ✭✭✭Krombopulos Michael

    The hurt locker.

Great action. Slow mo of the bullet casing drop onto the dirt was insane and jeremy renner was great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,343 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Great synth music in Masters but prefer the Hurt Locker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,579 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Hurt Locker

I'd have it win this whole tournament. The tension of the bomb disposal scenes is incredible, and the adapting to real life scenes are heart breaking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,592 ✭✭✭Hoboo

Crying laughing here, as much as I love He-Man

    Hurt Locker

Hurt locker just isn't realistic, all made up fantasy.

He-man on the other hand is excellent war movie to eat popcorn to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭storker

Hurt locker because it's actually a war movie.

Hurt locker. Really enjoyed the tension.

    Hurt locker.
Haven't seen it but have seen Masters of the universe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,579 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Just seen The Hurt Locker is on netflix, might watch it tonight :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭FortuneChip

Look, Masters of the Universe was great and everything, but fully expect The Hurt Locker to be in the semi-final.

There's so many great scenes filled with tension.
Jeremy Renner in one of his best performances, such a fascinating character, and it's just so bloody tense.

    Love it.
