As with many shows I forgot clean about Warrior Nun until I saw casting news on tvline last week I think. Probably forget about it again until a trailer and/or release date comes out

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I really enjoyed it but it was a struggle to get through the first few episodes. I saw a lot of people say they gave up before it got to the good episodes. That's why I was surprised it was renewed. Presumably a lot of people who started it finished it though, if what it says in that article about completion stats is correct. I think S2 only started filming last month so it'll most likely end up being 2 years, at least, between seasons, so a lot of people will have forgotten about it too. And again it's not something Netflix seem to push on their socials, like Bridgerton or that Umbrella thing, so there's been no updates there since the renewal over a year ago.

Anyways.... its just interesting to me what shows they choose to push and which ones they don't, especially before their initial release. You can nearly predict the top10 list every week based on what they're pushing the week before. I got an email today telling me about a log in on a new device and at the bottom was an ad for Squid Games. Is it really a surprise hit show or are Netflix really very good at making people watch what they want them to watch? That's why it's a pleasant surprise to see something like Maid in the Top10 this week.

I seem to only remember 1 trailer for Squid Game. And since I watched Alice in Borderland and Sweet Home I would assume their algorithm would recommend it to me anyway

Is this a new addition on Netflix? When I read your post I presumed it was a documentary on the legend that is Robbie until a quick google search. Then I remembered watching the 4 part drama previously when it was on TV. Fcucking amazing and looking forward to a rewatch. Thanks for the reminder.

Yep it’s from 2016 I think, it got recommended to me after I watched the accident with Sarah Lancaster which was also superb

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I thought The Accident was awful. Felt like half of it was missing. Really poor. Kiri was the other one in that series, which was alright.

Does anyone know if 7Seeds is getting a third season?

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,616 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

I gave up after an hour...very poor :(

I am usually a sucker for a trashy horror I enjoyed the babysitter on Netflix even...but this was awful.

The lead guy is likeable enough he was excellent in bumblebee...but it was just a boring mess imo.

I said Hustlers was a chick flick on the AP thread and got a big backlash. I still maintain it is 100% a chick flick. I liked it, the 2 leads were great but even the ensemble women cast were great, good story from start to end. It’s Casino starring women.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I'd question your definition of a chick flick, to be honest, and saying "even the ensemble women cast were great" is just a weird sentence in itself.

But yes, it's a very enjoyable film and comparisons to something like Casino or even Goodfellas are much more apt than calling it a "chick flick".

Once again I show my age when I see "Rap superstar" followed by a name I've never heard of. Not that I follow rap music

Dark Waters was on Amazon Prime this past winter - it is an excellent watch. I don't know how to find my old posts with this new boards host, but I was full of praise for it at the time.

Started watching Dirty Money over the weekend because I was on my own and bored. Only watching season one but some of the stories are mental. The Scott Tucker one is crazy - it's absolutely amoral how they preyed on poor people but he really believed he did nothing wrong. Him, his wife and the lawyer were just awful, awful people.

Thanks for bringing this series to my attention. I somehow hadn't heard of it before which is surprising given it's very much my type of doc-series and it's been very well received.

Now I have about 12 hours of corporate crime content to catch up on.

One docu-series I need to stop giving second and third chances to is The Movies That Made Us. Each season I get lured back in by a new episode that piques my interest and I end up stubbornly hate watching the whole episode as I don't like to turn things off half way through.

It looks very like a series Suranne Jones was in a few years back on ITV. Unforgiven it was called and was written by Sally Wainwright, about a woman who was in jail for shooting police officers, I think, and was looking for her little sister when she got out.

I hate this. I started watching the anime because I knew they were doing this, I wasn't really enjoying it and now I know that I'm not gonna like this live action version I think I'll stop. It's way too overstylised for me.

Been watching the anime myself and loving it. It’s the kind of wild, OTT action that can be so vividly realised in animation it kinda feels like the live action version is doomed to failure. Some of the action scenes in the anime are just impeccably staged, and the whole thing radiates style.
